I'm about to install a new (to me) set of coilovers on the car and I'm wondering whether I should get some dust sleeves/boots for them.  The car sees some daily duty (5 miles a day) but most of the miles are to/from track days and the track itself.  As these are decently nice shocks I'm wondering if I should put on something to protect them.  I've read from some on the interwebz that dust is one of the main reasons that shocks degrade over time, while others say that the boots/sleeves will just keep the dirt inside vs. getting washed out.

Can anyone comment with real experience?  Muchos gracias!  smiley

Absolutely, get them. In my experience with a car that sees plenty of gravel roads, they do a great job of keeping the dust out:

I'd also recommend spring bags over them if you can afford them.

Edit: Or you could get spring bags made, as seen here:

In reply to GameboyRMH :

Thanks!  I’m thinking of just getting the eibach spring covers. They’re a little expensive but if it makes it easier to keep the shocks protected during the winter then it’ll be worth it!
