E30 questions

Hey I am about to buy a bunch of e30 parts and need to know all of the extra little bits that I need to include on my list. I will be replacing shocks/springs, what do I need other than this to update the suspension? I am trying to do this on the cheap so I am not looking to replace a ton of bushings etc.

The passenger window doesn't work, is this likely the window motor, the regulator or the switch?

My heater doesn't work, it blows some air but it isn't hot. Should I replace the heater coils, heater core, fan or all three? Is there a difference between the coild and core?

1) shocks/springs

Rear spring pads can rot, check them Strut hat bearings seize up. You have to pop the outer ball and tie rods on an E30 to get the strut out so... they are cheap do them too.

2) Window Try cleaning the jelly bean buttons really well or swapping them. It could be that simple.

3) Heater Check fuses, then look on the firewall at the back of the head - there is a valve that diverts water to the core or recirc back thru the head. Make sure it's working. If the blower isn't running or only at one speed check the blower resistor. If the flappers aren't opening so you only get cold outside air even though the core gets hot water... the problem depends on what heater control you have but... either way, its the unit or the actuator.

You're going to be disappointed if you don't replace the bushings.

There are only Control arm bushings, rear subframe bushings, rear trailing arm bushings.
