Ford was nice enough to make the heater cores on the 78 era Thunderbirds way too easy- there's a cover on the heater box under the hood that is held on by a few bolts with 5/16" heads.. take that cover off, and the core slides out with the hoses still hooked up..
an 87 Chev Celebrity is almost as easy- unhook the hoses on the engine side, remove a plastic cover under the dash, remove a metal bracket, and the core falls out onto the floor..
