I posted this on the resto boards, but y'all are more helpful, creative, and budget minded....

so the 64 has the moulind from the bed that comes up around the cab. mounts with 6 studs that go through the body and to the interior. when I disassembled the truck, there were no gaskets or anything, and they leaked.

I really don't want leaks.

I know 64-67 have the exact same moldings. what was used from the factory to seal them? what is a good solution now?

I have ideas of rubber hone and silicone caulk running around in my head, but there has to be a better way that boggering something up. especially since repair or resealing would require headliner removal.

thanks

Michael

Factory probably had a foam seal back there that eventually shrinks and leaks. They didn't intend for the truck to still exist 50 years later.

What about butyl rubber tape?

You're thinking wrapped around the post, right? What would future removal look like?

Rob nailed it. That what they use on Boats and RV's. it come in two flavors foam tape and putty.
