. Last night, my son's 89 Ram 50 (2.6 litre) stopped running. All electrics were working except those requring the igntion switch to be on. My first thought was the switch and we checked all wires leading to the switch and no power was getting to the switch. We finally got the truck running, buy jumping the postive post of the battery to the postiive post of the ballast resistor near the ignition coil. The truck ran fine, all accessories worked, but when you turn the ignition off, the truck continues to run, even with the key removed. The there are two wires which are attached to the postive post of the ballast resitor, one goes to teh distributor, the other to the positive post on the batter via a harness. I do not see any fusible links or in line fuses. What would be causing the lack of power to the resistor?

Again, all other circuits work normal and the truck will run if we jump with a wire, but then will not shut off.
