Did they start just parking the trains in your front yard?

That's some significant rear overhang.  10 ft?   30ft total length?  33% after the rear axle?

Dodge van rear tail lamps.  Is that indicative of a 360 under the hood?  440?

They did go by today and trim all the trees along the track and just left the branches in my yard so that's not a huge stretch...

33ft total, 208" wheelbase.

Looks nice!  Before towing anything with it, check the frame extensions.  Mine were just barely butt-welded to the frame.  I've heard stories of trailers levering the extensions and knocking the back cap loose.

How's the interior look?

Original but dirty from sitting. It was owned by a guy who raced at the local speedway and towed his race car to the track every weekend. He passed away in 2014 so it's been sitting in a pole barn since 2013. These are from the listing, I'll have to go through and clean and see what is there over the weekend.

Unfortunately it does not have the Cummins option, just the Ford 460. For $2500 though I think I did alright and it should clean up nice.

That interior layout looks a lot like Bill's now former RV, although I suppose the realities of packaging mean options are limited for how you can lay things out.

I bet it smells like the house I looked at this month.  No water damage but it hadn't been opened up for a long time.  (Being on the market for 9 months in a hot market should have been a clue)

That's a lot of motorhome for the money!  What I find weird, though, is that it's only a year older than my old one, but the interior styling looks more like 10 years older!  It should clean up nicely, though!

My Tiffin had a 460. It's a great engine for a motorhome. So smooth and gobs of low end grunt.

It's actually an 88 but documentation on the front engine Foretravels is tough to find, it doesn't seem like they changed a lot over the run. After 93 they stuck with only diesel pushers.

Normally I would think this would be a horrible idea.

Lots of options to make more space for camping/travel - RTT, cargo boxes on the roof, or an enclosed utility trailer just to put all your gear in and leave the van itself for people/dogs. Mount awnings on the trailer, get the ARB "room" for the awning (sleeps 3-4 easy), and you'll still have a better and more reliable driving experience than an old RV anyhow.

I'll have my room setup at the RX next weekend, feel free to check it out for ideas.

EDIT: oops, didn't see you got one. nvrmind.

Where do you shower or poop?  That's the big RV draw, IMO.  That and cooking I guess smiley

That's what my boat looked like when I bought it, a few hours with a hammer store buffer, Presta ultra cutting cream and some fleet wax. and it will be good as new.

Yea, that was the reason for moving up to this. I'm fine camping out of the van but my wife appreciates better bathroom facilities than a portapot or nearby tree. I'm also not opposed to a shower after a hot dusty rallycross.

Having a comfortable bed and bath at any event is well worth the price of admission.

While our last RV wasn't bad, it was a little too small and I am not a small person. My feet hung off the end of the bed. The shower was small enough I almost couldn't use it and the toilet was so close to the bathroom door I almost couldn't shut it. We used that RV at the track 3-4 times a year. Call it 8-10 days.

Comparatively, the current RV is much more comfortable and we spend 30-40 days a year in it. I'm trying to talk my wife into selling everything and going full-time.

One of the most wonderful things at a hot, dusty rallycross is going into the A/C at lunch, taking a quick shower to clean up and cool down, putting on a fresh shirt, having some lunch out of the fridge, and sitting around in comfortable seats for a while.  And then after everything is all packed up to go home at the end of the day, that pre-hit-the-road shower and some beers that have been in the fridge all day make the tow home much more tolerable.

Damn, I really need to find a new coach!
