According to Fox news the development of the replacement Camaro, due in 2023 has been stopped by GM.   The article stated that fewer than 51000 Camaro's were sold lat year, third in the pony cars.

Being a Ford guy, he just needed to gloat some more.

I'm bummed, 'cause of course a next generation was an opportunity to do it better and it could've been neat.

But I'm crossing my fingers for the idea that the dismal sales figures are down to people being less enthralled with the "my things look angrier and more aggressive than your things" arms race. If the windows on the Camaro got any smaller, it was going to look more like a tank destroyer than a pony car.

My freind fingered out a way to keep his back up camera on when he drives his car. So in his words," see out of the damned thing"

GM missed out on who the buyers of a retro pony car.  They should have made a car baby boomers can easily get in and out of.  Also a simple low cost version with a 305 V8 around 250 to 300 HP and a 5 speed or basic automatic, with nice wheels and tires that retirees could afford as a second or third car.  Ford and Chrysler are losing sight of this market also.

Nobody makes money on cheap cars. On the other hand, a ton is made on limited edition special cars- which is also something the mustang does well.

I am surprised at this news, but I never knew how low the sales numbers were. I thought everyone loved them.

i guess it shows how little numbers and magazine racing matters if you have a packaging nightmare. I drove one once and it felt like my outstretched hand couldn’t pass through the window.

Sure, that lets you see directly behind you. But it doesn't help the blind spots from the C-pillars. That was my complaint driving an SS 1LE 18 months ago.

The flip side is, just bury the loud pedal and you will no longer have anything in your blind spot. devil

Honestly all I've wanted this whole time is for Ford and GM to cut the crap with the nostalgic nonsense. I like the Camaro and Mustang because V8 RWD sports coupe. I've thought since about 2010 that they would probably be better cars if they weren't trying to impress old men with the badges.

Basically I just want an ATS with cloth interior and less chrome.

Hence Ford’s decision to build the Mustang as their only car.  I wonder how long that will last.

There happens to be a Mustang show going on in Minneapolis this weekend, I stopped there after work and met up with a friend who had his car there.  Mustang owners are as hard core as they come...if Ford were to cancel it, I think they'd storm the corporate headquarters with torches and pitchforks.  smiley

As it is there's apparently no plans to do so.  The scuttlebutt I heard was the next Mustang will be a hybrid - it will still have a conventional internal combustion engine in the front driving the rear wheels, but it will also have electric motors running the front wheels.  A full electric version will supposedly come sometime after that.
