I did a track day yesterday with the Datsun.  On the second lap of the first session I managed to pop the car up on two wheels.

It was total obnoxious driving on my part. It was the middle of a left to right transition; I came off the left hander with some opposite lock and because it coincided with the right hander I kept the opposite lock on (think Scandinavian Flick). Instead of snapping back to the right the car popped up on two wheels. The inside tires were maybe a foot or two off the ground and the increased load on the outside tires cause them to wash out so they came right back down.......no big deal. I haven't had this happen with the car in 25-30 years.  The two previous times were at autocross and it's always happened when I do the Scandinavian Flick.  Back then we lowered the motor in the chassis, since that time we also increased the track by 3 inches but it's still only 53 inches.

So out of curiosity how many of you of have managed to pop a track car up on two wheels?

Heck, I've managed to put my DD on zero wheels before.  Those little tunnels in downtown Philly streets have a perfect ramp at the end.

I put another DD on two wheels during a poorly-negotiated "spirited" turn.  Clipped the wheelchair ramp on the curb of a street corner and definitely got it on two wheels

I had my HP GLC go up on two wheels in the fish hook at Sebring early in my racing career. I had brand new slicks on the car and thought that may have been the cause. On the track section to Turn 10 I curved back and forth to see if I could feel any issues. Car felt solid so I attacked 10 as normal. Unbeknownst to me, my left front strut tube had fatigued, and as soon as the LF slick contacted the strut tube the car braked, pivoted, and barrel-rolled down the track. Sad end to a pretty car.

Not without the help of a curb or another car or both.

Pulled inside someone on the exit of turn 4  at Indianapolis in a Formula Ford race and when we got to the 5-6 kink heading on to the back stretch if became blatantly obvious that they had no idea I was there.  I hit the cones and the turn 6 curb at about the same time that their right rear tire made contact with my left rear.  My car went up on two wheels and I thought sure I was going to test the roll bar out.  Fortunately it came back down and I was able to continue the race.

There's a curb in the bus stop at Arroyo Seco that puts the Miata on two wheels every lap when running counter clockwise.

A friend of mine has some driving habit that sees him on two wheels, or his roof, with regularity.  There is a really funny video of him with his Mini, at aa all Mini race a few years ago.  There is an almost never ending stream of Minis tearing through a fairly tight right hander, and Bruce goes through in the middle of the pack, as close to falling over as he could get...

Dang, I didn't know that you had a GLC, never mind an H Prod car. Very cool.

A friend of mine rolled a Civic at Sebring. A broken brake rotor set things in motion.

I've been on "no wheels" a few times while doing unplanned engineering tests of rollbar design.

Going by the Tree House on the road course at NHIS (Now HHMS)  You would cut the corner at the top of the hill putting two wheels over the curb and over the dirt.  The curb would put the car on two wheels so your tires never actually touch the dirt.  I would do this every lap.

The other place we would go on two wheels was the kink before the last corner at the end of the back straight at Nelson Ledges.  I have seen many people bounce the car on two wheels there.  If you got it right you hit the curb just right and it put you on two wheels letting you cut the corner.  It was a game of chicken as the margin of error was very small and you were going rather fast.    I saw lots of people get it wrong there, especially at night when we did the 25-hour races.  This was before the repave so I don't know what is there now.
