Man, what an awesome quali session. The race is going to be great. 3 WDC's out in Q2! Those I agree that the cars look a little slower on turn in with the reduced front down force, but man are they fun to watch in the wet or dry. Even before the rain they really looked a hand full under breaking, moving around so much more than in the past. Also oversteer is again a feature of F1. This is looking very very good.

Nope, I had to DL a torrent from my favorite site.

I don't like how quiet the cars (I don't hate the new sound) but it is cool that you can hear the crowd reactions much more now.

Great Q3 by Daniel, so close to nabbing pole on the Inter's. I also loved the way crowd ERUPTED when Vettel didn't make it out of Q2.

Agree with all the above. Well, except for the tonight thing as its' easier (for me) to get up at 6:00AM for the replay than to stay up til 4:30AM for the live version.

Wet quali made thing really interesting, the grid isn't anything like I was predicting. Can't wait for the race in a couple hours!

Good race! Rbr did better than expected.

Bottas and Magnusson were awesome.

This could be a great year!

What a piece of crap disqualification five hours after the race finish! Surely they knew before then..

The cars sound great and that was a good race. I was really impressed with Bottas.

Fuel flow is critical to performance, exceeding the max means more power. I think announcing the DQ when the fans were still at the race might have caused a riot...

OK, really crappy about Riccardo DQ. I’m on the fence about it. It was a rule infraction that could have led to an advantage, but come on. I though F1 prided themselves on the fact that people left the track knowing the result. Let it stand but take away the manufacturers points and give him a 10 place penalty for the next race or something, but handing out a trophy then taking it back is bad news.

Other than that. What an awesome race. I LIKE the sound, I love the look of the Williams and McLaren. I am one of the few who is glad Red Bull have the pace. Let’s face it, both Button and Vettel would probably have made Q3 were it not for the yellows caused by the Ice Man stuffing it. Awesome drives by Bottas and Magnusson. Even more impressive Bottas coming back after kissing the wall.

Really bad luck for Vettel and Hammy, but we knew reliability was going to play a factor.

Going Forward Mercedes are obviously the class of the field. Red Bull and McLaren right there, then Williams and Force India right snapping on their heels. Jury is still out on Ferrari, Torro Rosso and Sauber. I bet that 14th place for Chilton could end up being really important later in the year.

Does anyone know the correct pronunciation for Kvyat’s name? I’ve heard: (almost silent) K-Fiat, Fiat, Kiv-E-aT, K-Vat, Kiv-At and more. I’ve no idea.

Anyone know when Simona De Silvestro will make her first Friday appearance?

About the timing of the DQ announcement - I can imagine there was quite a bit of discussion on just how to deal with the infraction. It's a pretty major one in light of the new rules, which play up the efficiency aspect so much. So I can understand why it was a significant penalty. Red Bull has been made an example of.

Remember the penalty that was handed out to Ford (I think) in WRC a few years ago for rear window glass that was 0.5mm too thin. In that case, both the 2nd and 3rd place cars were dropped back two places for an irrelevant infraction that had no effect on the results. High fuel flow would definitely have an effect on an F1 car.

One thing I did not miss in this race was fabricated tire drama. Maybe I missed it (it WAS late at night), but that was a real relief.

You are thinking of Bill France and NASCAR, I'm afraid.

Red Bull is pretty vocal that they have done no wrong. Best of luck with that, I say.

In reply to Keith Tanner:

It's my understanding that RB's infraction was not using the first fuel flow sensor they were issued. They were issued a second one because the first had suspect readings but it was subsequently declared "OK" and then re-issued to the team. The team chose to continue with the second unit while declaring both units were forwarding faulty data.

The teamed got dinged for not obeying a direct order. If the appeal is going to be successful, they'll have to prove their internal data is more accurate than both the FIA-issued sensors AND the FIA will have to admit its' own failure(s).

I think the appeal ruling is pretty darn predictable.

I know there was some concern about those sensors before the season, but Red Bull sure didn't handle it well in the above account.

I thought the race was OK, but unlike others, I hate the sound of the new cars, or should I say lack thereof. It kept reminding me of a Formula Ford race. Visual excitement was lacking from previous years as well. I'm not the only one as Australian promoters are thinking of filing suit for breach of contract for the sound issue. It seems many there in person were not impressed. Evidently they were almost quieter in person than on TV.

Anyway, I don't think it was end of F1 as some are predicting, but they have work to do. Bottas made the race however, awesome drive. And the Williams is a great looking car. The next few races will be interesting.
