Hi all, I'm in the market for a new family commuter/bad weather car in the $15-20k. Prefer an SUV but 7 seat is nice to have but not mandatory. Also prefer something from 2010 or newer. This will be my second car assuming I can sell my C5 Z06 and get a 14-15 Mustang GT for my main daily driver to work.

Currently I'm looking at the following: 1. 2nd gen MDX (prolly 2011-2013)

  1. Durango or Grand Cherokee of same vintage.

  2. Previous gen CX-9.

  3. Previous gen Traverse/Acadia duo.

  4. Eco boost Flex.

Any of these have major known issue that I need to be aware of and avoid? Thanks all.

What's your budget? I am looking for the same thing for 15k-20k but I want it to have the ability to tow a jet ski using one of these hitch carrier. Looking for suggestions too ;)

I was thinking: 1. Benz GLK

  1. Mazda CX5

  2. MDX as well

Suggestions?

Unfortunately Suburban is too big for my wife who'll need to drive this from time to time and for the city parking lots where I'll need to take my kids for their activities. It's a perfect road trip car though.

We upped our budget with regards to the Grand Cherokee to get the 8 speed just for the better fuel economy. It started in 2014, iirc.

I love the Traverse/Acadia, but they have some serious transmission issues with the 3/5/R wave plate. My friend had an Acadia and asked me what he should do. After doing a bunch of research and realizing that there was no permanent fix yet for the 3/5/R issue, I told him to dump it.
