I catch it when I am traveling. I don't mind it, but Im not looking for a realistic documentary when I am sitting on a hotel bed in Kansas. Just something mildly entertaining

look into the bio of the main guy- Richard Rawlings- and you might think he would stand a chance...

http://dsc.discovery.com/tv-shows/fast-n-loud/bios/richard-rawlings.htm

linked article said: A veteran of transcontinental road rallies, Richard has won the Gumball 3000 and the Bullrun — twice. He is the current world record holder in the Cannonball Run and was even recognized by Jay Leno for this achievement, having broken the record that stood since 1979. He covered the 2,811 miles from New York to Los Angeles in 31 hours and 59 minutes with an average speed of 87.6 miles per hour.

he's done some cool stuff, but he is still a bag that holds a feminine hygiene product as far as i'm concerned..

I can totally understand that. I don't mind the F&L guys, but that show with the Mopar experts fixing up Mopars... those guys (especially the main "expert" guy) irritate the crap out of me! I don't know what it is, something about his attitude just torques me the wrong way in a big way.

One thing I wonder (maybe I should start another thread): How exactly do you prep rust for a clear coat? I mean, it really does not seem like the paint will stick for long.

If I remember correctly, he broke that record in a Ferrari and his partner on the run was Dennis Collins aka the rich guy.

Yeah, I read about the Ed Bolian run in 28hrs 50 min. Three guys, a cl55 with extra gas tanks, and a bed pan. Frankly, I draw the line at a bed pan. No race is that serious for me.

I think it only has to stick long enough to make it through the auction, and then it becomes the buyer's problem.

They made a movie about this guy. Danny Trejo was in it. It amused.

I know it's fake, but I find it more realistic then most of the other dramas- I mean reality shows- out there. I like the fact that they treat it as a business. They aren't about spending $75,000 on a $3,000 car to sell it for $80,000. They usually go after the low hanging fruit and flip it, which makes good business sense. The builds are cool, but rarely pay off as much as the strait flips.

On the opposite end, you have Wheeler Dealers. I enjoy the show, but can't stand Mike. Every episode he finds a car that needs a lot of work, over pays for parts, and then dumps it on Ed. Ed then puts 100 hours into the car re-doing everything mechanical, the paint, and the interior. Mike gets the car back, and sells it to the first person that shows up for a bargain price. He then claims a profit, not accounting for any of Ed's labor. In one episode, he haggled the price DOWN for the prospective buyer. I'm waiting for Ed to lure Mike under a car so he can drop it on him.

You whippersnappers are so picky. I remember when Motor Trend was the ONLY car show on TV on PBS. and we were happy and grateful to have it.

And we walked 10 miles to school, uphill both ways. In the snow.

TNN perfected the car show tv genre about 20 years ago... then the "educational" channels jumped on the bandwagon and made the "reality tv" car shows, then TNN became SPIKE- which still has the best car guy shows on the Powerblock.. also, GAC (the country music channel) has some of SPEED's old car shows, but sadly not Gearz..

Fast & Loud is a bunch of harmless goofballs that don't take themselves too seriously (see Red Bull episode).

They don't profess to be geniuses or automotive experts unlike that "Mopar guy".

How anyone wouldn't object to them getting punched in the throat or calling douchbag and whatnot is beyond me.

I really like the rich guy that occasionally comes on, he's really into cars. His passion for Healey's is cool, and the COPO episode really showed what kind of guy he is. I even like the F40 that they did for him (and duh, we all saw that coming).

RR is kind of hipster douche, and beard man is a little weird but at least he has real skills. I like the overweight slightly strange guy that stands on his head. I don't care if Sue is a fake persona, she's hilarious "you crazy!".

Lou was awesome, you shut your mouth! He got screwed by TNN on that Muscle Car crap show. They brought him in to make it a real fab show like the old Stacey/Trucks or the Off-Road one with Jesse, and he started building a wicked SCCA/NASA Mustang. Then they gave him a typical TV idiot and made him do a Red Camaro (which he tried to make as bizarre as possible). He had an SC/Rambler for the show, so a lot of the AMC guys knew him or sold him parts. He built Project Blue Hair, which was amazing, and then they brought in the 3rd wheel who painted it. The last episodes with him you could tell he was a very pissed off man, especially when they painted Blue Hair.

Lou's ok. He's just a little over the top with his booming voice and forced laughter.
