As high of a price as it is, is it safe to assume that it will continue to appreciate in value?

I don't think it's ever safe to assume the value of a car will continue to appreciate, even for a Ferrari. The collector market has always had peaks and valleys.
A neighbor has one, crazy, crazy car. When you see it on the road you're not really sure what you're looking at until it's long gone.

I saw one on the street and it was definitely a head turning looking it up later kind of moment.

BaT commission is 5% of the final bid, with a $5,000 cap. So 1/10 or less than the typical auction houses.

I mean, looking at what they're going for that seems like a slightly high but typical price. Lots of sales over past few years in the $3-7MM window.
Remember when BAT was, truly, for projects and stuff? Peppridge Farm remembers...
I used to love looking at piles of parts and stuff on there, things that would, one day, be feasible for my government salary. Now...like every week is a 900k+ car
Im not complaining, its cool to see. But it's different.
So, it used to be bring a trailer because there is no way it can be driven and now it's bring a trailer because you would not want to risk driving it and you are just transferring it from garage womb to another garage womb.
Fortunate name choice then. Worked out a lot better than the 99 cents store!
