Am I the only one really looking forward to this car? More torque, should be less weight up front. I was thinking I might look into a Mazda 2 or Fiesta sometime fairly soon, but this may be worth waiting for IMO.
What's the collective thoughts on this?
Usage would be DD, and occasional ( like 3-5 per year) autocrosser.
I think it will be a decent commuter plus what is available from the B-spec stuff.....
Only problem I forsee is that Ford will put a "luxury" tax on it like it does on the Focus ST. I mean north of 25k for a fuking Focus!!! For 25k, I can get a 1.6L Ecoboost/6spd Fusion.....

Is this the 1litre ecoboost you are talking about?
Yes. The little one.
I noticed that Ford Motorsport has this: Fiesta autocross suspension kit
I'm wondering if anybody knows if this is less "hard-core" than the B-spec stuff?
A couple of decades ago, a friend and I took a new Suzuki Sprint turbo out for a testdrive. He looked at me, and said, "Squirrels on steroids!"
I lol'd.
No rear coilovers, but same thing as the B-spec kit. I think that allows you to stay in SP(?) instead of Prepared/Modified(?). It was mentioned in one of the recent issues.

I had a couple friends in HS with those. They were only like 75 hp if I recall correctly. But the tin box structure made them feel pretty quick and they were a lot of fun with the waste gate wired shut! I'm sort of hoping that the Fiesta turbo could be like a 4-dr, modern refined version of one of those...
For me, it's down to the 1.0l and the 1.6l Ecoboost Fiesta.
I want to drive both to see what they are like. I have seen one up close, and do like it- the interior updates are nice.
The 1l ecoboost should be a pretty cool car. I'd love to drive one when they get on the lots
Alfadriver, will this be released at the L.A auto show?

For the price of a half dozen apples, you could get a 10lb sack of potatoes.
I can't believe someone on GRM just compared a base model Fusion to the top-spec Focus (which is being hailed as the ultimate modern hot-hatch) and declared the Fusion a winner...

The Fusion isn't a base model. It is a SE mid level model. I was looking at MPG to what you get. For my money, the Fusion is a better choice over the Focus. If I wanted a comparable car, I would buy a Dart or Cruze instead.
You are also comparing the 170 ish HP 1.6 ecoboost to the 240 ish hp 2.0 Ecoboost in the ST. One is setup for power and the other MPGs, These two things are not the same. Also, the new focus is much nicer than the old cars. The fiesta is really the successor to the first gen focus, size and dollars wise.

My point is that the Focus is a performance car, the Fusion isn't. They cater to completely different demographics.

You can option a pickup truck from any of the big three to over 60,000 dollars of cosmetic crap. Having a hot hatch version of the focus at 25k seems fine to me. It's pretty rare to see any cars new under 20k anymore. The cheapest Focus ST starts at 23,700, the Fusion SE starts at 23,700 and if you add any of the ecoboost motors its at least 24,500.
To me it's like an argument that you could buy a crown vic for less money than a mustang and it still comes with a v8 (echoing knurled, one is a cruiser one is a performance car)
You don't have to like it but I think the Focus ST is a pretty nice car for the money
In reply to Jaynen:
Agreed! Also, one of the few options on the ST are Recaros. Sweet sweet recaros. Good job Ford for offering recaros on not one but two of your current lineup.

I think you have to go to the middle package to get the recaro's so it adds a little bit like say 25ish.
The fusion is a nice car too. If they had a wagon I would consider one for a wife car

The Fusion with 1.6L Ecoboost and the stick would be a fantastic daily driver, it felt more balanced and a bit livelier to me than with the larger engine. True story: I was driving it on the press launch along PCH, when we noticed thousands of people lining the roadside. We'd totally forgotten it was the day of the shuttle being brought home. A spot opened up, we pulled in, jumped out... just in time to see it fly overhead. It was very cool.
I loved the Focus ST, it's a fierce little bugger with perfectly placed pedals and a real willingness to rotate if you want it to.
Very briefly drove the 1.0L Focus at Dearborn earlier this year. It was a bit like driving my 323, would be a great, bare bones daily.
can someone tell me how to access a private message to me from another user?

Is this going to be the Fiesta ST, or has there been any confirmation on whether we'll get it in the US?

There is supposed to be a fiesta ST, I think it will get the 1.6l ecoboost the 1.0 ecoboost is more of an economy option

Since the 1.0l was just shown to the press last week, i would guess that it will be at both LA and Detroit.
No idea on the ST, but am hoping. Its not as if its that unique of a car, afterall.

then why are they doing this in NASCAR?
regarding this thread: i read it as "Ecoboost Festiva" and the hairs on the back of my neck stood on end because this seems like a good idea to me that someone totally needs to do... but since this is actually about a goofy looking new Ford that you can buy at a dealer, then never mind.
