....and I love it. I haven't taken it over 4kRPM for break-in purposes but other than that I'm very impressed with the vehicle. It's a major upgrade over the previous generation. Interior material quality is much better, fit and finish is better, the new sporty steering wheel is much welcomed. The handling is amazing, the steering feel is nice and heavy compared to my 9th gen Si, etc. Subaru is taking baby steps but improving on quality.

The cons. For a $34k car I would expect a better stereo system. The 9th gen Si stock stereo blows the STis out of the water and it wasn't even that great. It's an easy fix but shouldn't have to on a new car. The Civic also had a better multi-function display and it was controllable via the steering wheel. The Civic also had a legit center armrest that wasn't an additional cost. I'm jut nitpicking at small things though. I'm very happy with the car overall despite the small things. I get a huge smile on my face when I'm in the twisty bits of the road and the turbo noises even at low RMP are awesome.

I thought I'd sworn off Subaru's for my own personal driving (wife loves them) and now we only have Scoobies. I miss my Si but this def makes up for it in multiple ways.

Sweet. I must say the looks have grown on me (better in person). Owning an AWD car is an itch I haven't scratched yet, but will some day. I test drove a 2005 Legacy Spec B, but ended up buying a Cooper S instead. Since I decided to keep the MS Miata for a few more years, that gives me a while to see how the new STis hold up. That, and see if they make an ND Miata coupe.

Enjoy the ride.

Congrats. I have a 2015 WRX that should be coming in any week now. My sixth Subaru. I have had WRXs and STis before and decided to go with the new WRX this time around, but I love the STi too. I agree with you, Subaru is continually improving and the latest generation seems to be miles ahead of the earlier versions. For the price there is really nothing else like it. Enjoy!

Excited to see possible hatch or FA engine versions of the STI in the next few years, along with this rumored Focus RS.

Its funny, when the WRX/STi/Evo came to the US, turbo cars were still pretty unique and it really made them stand out. Nowadays, all the BMW 3ers, Audis, small Fords, etc etc are boosted. At the same time the "rally cars" gained more creature comforts to appeal to the masses more. It feels like everything is moving to a central compromise. I guess what I'm saying is, I hope there continue to be some cars like the STI that don't just feel like the Subaru version of a 328iX, but are a little more hardcore and special.

I've been wanting a German car, haven't scratched that off my list yet but a crap can car might do that soon. I was contemplating waiting on a Golf R but VW scares me to death for a DD.

I had originally planned on just going with a base base base model WRX. I got a call that the WR Blue WRX was on the lot. I went to go check it out and this white STi was sitting next to it and I impulsed. I know it's a 10 year old motor and the FA is probably the better bet for MPGs and potential down the road (ringlands?)

I'll have some pics up soon. Work is killing me. Windows are getting tinted on friday (noticed how I didn't say "tints" drives me nuts). Ordered a nameless exhaust and some stereo upgrades (not the turbo). That's about the extent of modifications. I have a set of RPF1s that will work for autoxing and tracking for now.

And you got white. Nice! Congrats on the car. I know a guy who upgraded from a 2011 wrx and he has nothing but good things to say about it.

Your new car already has that "not so fresh feeling?"

Dude. Don't do it what ever you do. Putting a hose pipe up the exhaust is a sure way to kill your engine

Here's a couple of pictures. I got Lumberged today and then there was a football game, tail gating, fun, etc. So I didn't get to clean it up. Horrible pictures actually. DSLR is coming out tomorrow.

I don't plan on pinging the car off the rev limiter in the parking lot or for a youtube video like brotatoes do. If they do fail it's Subarus fault lol.

I like this car the only issue I have with it is they upgraded the WRX engine to new tech why didn't they do the same with the STI?

Probably due to development timelines. Subaru is a small company and they've just completely revamped their entire engine/drivetrain lineup for the most part. My guess is the EJ25 was carryover for ~ 2yrs while they work on a hi-po version of the new engine.

I agree and part of me wishes I would have just spent less money and got the wrx. But by the time I optioned out the WRX I wanted it was the same price range as a base STI which came with all the same stuff as a limited WRX sans the sunroof (which I don't use anyways). Plus I get a real LSD, brembos, LED headlights (I end up retrofitting projectors and HIDs into every car anyways), the "alcantara" seats, adjustable center diff, better residual value, and the trademark Subaru rumble brap.

With that being said the Subaru forums I frequent it seems like the new engine has it's own issues. Nothing major just minor things here and there. I'm sure it has way more potential than the old EJ though.

The good thing is I love this car so far. I haven't felt this way about a car I've owned since I purchased my first V8 4th Gen F-body in high school. Mullet pride.

SoA is still spotty on covering that issue.....even if it never has been driven like a brotard. Best of luck on it though.

I know from first hand experience with my 2012 wrx. I'm giving them another go. I also leased it for 2 years so if ringlands decide to fail, they can have it back. I tend to never keep cars longer than that and if they come out with a new engine I can always just swap out for that. We'll see. Its def a blast to drive.

One of my friends who has a 2012 Camaro V6 was criticizing me for spending that much on a car with only 305hp while he got his for $22k and 320hp. Then he got a taste of the handling and was like "welp camero def doesn't handle like that, I retract my statement."
