Another great article about the V8 Miata from Flyin' Miata in a "mainstream" magazine. (although GRM is pretty mainstream these days). I used to love all the stories about AMG Hammers and Lingenfelter Sledgehammers and other tuner cars. Glad to see FM is getting some well deserved press.
The article states that if it had Carol Shelby's name on it, it would be a real bargain. I have to wonder how long it will be before we are saying that about having a Kieth Tanner stamp on a car? Hey Mazda? How about a Flyin' Miata Hertz Rental Car?

I think the difference(in perception, anyway) between Carol and Keith is the number of wins associated with Carol. Keith tell your boss you need to get out & race more, you know, for the good of the company!

Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday!
It's fun having the ND around, the press is coming to us for drives. Usually I have to chase them around. Damn near had to arm wrestle an Automobile writer to drive a Westfield, and even getting David into our four cylinder ND took some sweet talking.
At the time Shelby was building Cobras, you could take something like that to Le Mans. These days, regulations mean that there just aren't many places we could race a Habu. They're out there - I've run the Targa in one and there's another one killing it in AER endurance racing - but we're not going to be able to get out there and beat the world on the big stage as could be done in the 60's. But let's just say I've brought it up a few times.
On top of that, there's the five plus decades of veneration around Shelby, encouraged in large part by the man himself. I'm just not the promoter he was.
In reply to Keith Tanner:
Does this mean that the "Keith Tanner's Chili Kit" is not in the pipeline?
They were going to try it, but it was too hot to swallow without causing internal damage.

Well, he was a Texan, and also known for his big hat. What's the Canadian equivalent, carrying around a hockey stick???

I still remember the first car magazine I ever actually picked up and read cover to cover way back in like 4th or 5th grade in the school library. It was an issue of Motor Trend that had a twin turbo Lingenfelter Corvette on the cover, can still see it plain as day. One of those seminal moments in my development into a car guy.
