I know a SOHC modular engine can win a National Championship. There should be an article in GRM sooner than later about it

The 3V is an option but it is just more money up front. I am not sure that it is worth it over a DOHC engine. I am looking for an all AL 4.6L as well. Those came in the 03-04 Expedition.
If you can find a 3v, or the heads from one and make fit a older 5.4 the 3v will outflow the 4v. plus 2 cams instead of 4 so some savings if you do this. Really, lock the cam phasers on them and throw boost the engine.
a 4.6 3v shuold be coming down in value. They will make 300hp and 300 torque with exhaust and tune, and if you put boost on, they love it.
Keep an eye out and get whatever. What is your budget and goals I guess would be my question.
Find a 4.6 3v truck engine, swap intake with Mustang I have one.......talk to me fit some turbos, T3 SVO size to each manifold I may have some of these laying around. put some injectors in it....
Lincoln Mark VIII's had DOHC 4.6s rated near 300hp and can often be found well under challenge budget. Decent IRS. Easy to convert to Mustang brakes, hubs, wheels, etc. If you don't want to do the Moates chip option, SCT offers OBD2 plug in tuners that are popular and well supported in the Ford community for just a bit more cash.
hmmm.... looking local this is the kind of pricing I see in the 4.6 realm. how much is the local u pull it for engines? I think its about 300 for engine assy here. Just a thought....
