When you play the race card there is no joke intended ever, in recent times it is usually meant to derail the issue from any pertinent facts and make it personal.
The whole quote was "I dunno, maybe it's because I'm black, , that's what Ali G says..." then he went on to say he didn't know why the stewards "are after him", but did point out that overtaking is what people want, and it takes cooperation between both drivers. He feels the driver of the slow car needs to recognize when the passer has put a move on him and not just continue on their preferred line.
I happen to agree, he was alongside Massa, who just petulantly turned into him.
i watched the webber / massa / hamilton incident several times. looked to me like there was room for hamilton to sneak in, except that massa made a very late move to go inside webber. i think massa hit webber before hamilton hit massa.

Were there any successful passes at the hairpin the entire race? (Other than Hamilton's, that were somewhat successful despite the stop and go's because he took out two competitors).
passing in the hairpin has been and always will be a foolish place to try and pass, and Hamilton KNOWS that.
Schumi made a brilliant pass on Hamilton in the hairpin this year.
I sometimes wonder if people commenting on this, actually watch the races or just repeat what others have said.

I sure did watch the race. I wouldn't say I memorized it - that is why I asked if there were any successful passes there this year.
Watching the in-car footage this weekend, the Monaco track looked to me like a 150 mph autocross - especially the section from the tunnel exit to the beginning of the front straight. I don't know where those guys find time to breathe each lap, let alone adjust the settings on their multifunction steering wheels.
Well two weeks in a row for the Hamilton carnage express but otherwise Jensen ran an amazing race, kudos to him and notable effort to Schumacher in the wet.
Jensons little kerfufle with Alonso didn't win him any favors from me. I am still a bit steamed about that.
Yeah plenty of mistakes made by many, but IMHO his drive was one of the later day greats, last to first, even with the help of many yellows and reds.

Huh?
Even the FIA steward ruling said he clearly had the inside line.

Just a year ago Seb was too immature, now he "Finally has shown he is human and made a mistake" lol
Button was against the kerbing, I don't see how he could move over any further either. IMHO wet track racing incident

I love rain races and I like Button, too:
I still think Lewis and Sebastian are cut from the same cloth. They are both immature, and they are both second tier drivers AT BEST!
Give anyone on the grid a Red Bull (a proper Red Bull, a Newey Red Bull, not that hunk of junk they keep handing to Webber), they WILL win with it. Give it to someone legendary, and they will walk away from the pack in a matter of laps.
We still have not seen how Seb Vet reacts under extreme duress, and probably won't until after the blown diffuser ban.
^That's one thing I've always wanted to see.
Let's take all the guys to Barcelona, for instance, everyone gets a few sets of tires, let's see who is really the fastest F1 driver.
I know it will never happen, but it would still be cool to see. Even in an older F1 car.
I find myself cheering on Button more and more.
So F1 should be Spec racing? We've got that already- Indy Car.
Absolutely not!
I want to see F1 have a "salary cap" type system. And drastically opened up technical regulations.
So you get $250 million for your budget, figure out how best to use it.
In reply to z31maniac:
You lost me there- your previous post seems to be more about who is the fastest driver (oh, and they did have a race at Barcelona already- it was a few weeks ago), and now you want to open up the design rules- the fastest car?
Which is it?
Was your oatmeal cold this morning?
I was saying it would be neat to say, throw everybody in Last years Red Bull, and just let all of them have a few sessions and see who could pull the same best lap time.
Or see how close all the top drivers really are if they had identical equipment.
I was talking about a one-off fun event, like something for the spectators.
Geeeeeeez.

AKA spec racing. that's where you are loosing me. You want a spec race, but you want the whole format to be more open in terms of design. It's not as if they remotely relate to each other, even if you would like to see just one spec race.
Oh, and there's always the Race of Champions.
He's got 2 different ideas, one is for a single race just to see whether it really was the car that was that fast last year and the other is a race series idea where there is a spending cap and engineering and creativity has a bigger role rather than how much you can throw at your car but smaller teams might not be able to hang.
In reply to Durty:
I get that, and see them as two complete opposite ideas. One idea is fully about who is the fastest driver, the other is fully about who can build the fastest car.
Yeah, it is two separate ideas. I'm not sure exactly why you are having trouble figuring this out.
Race of Champions isn't exclusively F1 drivers, in F1 cars. I don't care about comparing Vettel to Kyle Busch in a pseudo stock car.
It would be cool to see who, on equal equipment, just once who can really turn a faster lap. You always hear "Sutil/Rosberg would do better if they had a better car" so it'd be interesting, AS A ONE-OFF EVENT, who really is the fastest.
As for the CHAMPIONSHIP itself, the salary cap + opened tech reg's is the direction I'd like to see the sport go.
It would be fun to see who is the fastest driver, with the car advantage neutralized. Because I agree with Maroon92, that if you Alonso/Button/Schumi in Vettel's car, they would put up faster lap times.
