Oh god, shut up Nico
I think Toto feels the same way.
For the most part he is fine, but he likes to argue with the person he is interviewing which is so hard to watch like he did there with Toto. He did it on the grid walk too when I made my initial post earlier, the Aston Martin director answered a question that he didn't like, talked over him and then didn't let him respond to that.
I really thought Merc would / should have pitted both of them with 10 to go, the worst thing that could have happened (except for a botched pit stop disaster) would have been a 2-3 finish. Best case they force RB to either pit or ride it out on hards. I thought it was a pretty dull race but it was nice to see the Dutch people so happy, it is a great country and the people there are super nice to work with and hang out with so even though I prefer a LH win I'll be happy for the people.
That was epic for Max, and will always be a highlight of his career. Well done.

He is also a big fan of intra-team rivalry and dirty tricks. Which is how he finally managed to eke out a win over Lewis. But it still comes across as asinine and juvenile. I don't think Toto has a lot of fond memories of him.
Every time I see Nico on camera he reminds me of the German 911 driver from Super Troopers.

Did anybody else catch this at the start of the pre race show?
Bottas officially to Alfa Romeo

Which puts George in the Merc, and now do the rumors about Albon.into the Williams come true?
I also heard rumors of Hondas (or whatever next year) into Williams, so the Albon thing might work. There are guys crossing team lines here, which hasn't really been a thing for a while.
I'm also trying to finish watching the pre race show, but Nico is on the grid walk, and it's painful.

Yes I am not a Max fan but I give him some respect for his speed and this one will hopefully have been a very very special weekend.
Good Job Max! and RBR didn't were too disgusting in the press this weekend either.

oh good, it's just not me.

Lewis is either the best faker in the universe, the best shmoozer in the world, or he is a genuine nice guy, who appeared perfectly happy to get second to the superior car, and felt happy for Max winning at home.
He looked genuinely pleased with the race.
I actually think he realized in 2017 that he doesn't have anything to prove and that this time as an F1 driver will be a tiny part of a hopefully long life. So if he ever has a situation to be angry or happy he will be happy. It requires work.
I think he thoroughly enjoyed his time attack for that last lap. His race was only going to be a win if RBR made a mistake or found the hard tire didn't work for them. So the joy was in that Fastest lap and pushing Max the whole race. Heck more than once he was power sliding out of left hand turns. That is what he held on to.
In reply to SnowMongoose :
Earlier in the season Lewis and MB did a fake out where they pushed after a pitstop to push Max then shifted into a slower pace to extend beyond Max's tire life, it gave Lewis the win. So I think Max was trying to gage if Lewis was doing the same thing or not.
Also after rewatching I think Lewis made a radio call saying Max was getting lucky with traffic.
It seems that Max was getting DRS zone after DRS zone off lap traffic but Lewis would be out of sync to get drs activation himself. And on two laps before they played that radio call. Max got drs activation when the backmarker went into the pits.
I know Button and the commentators joked about the comment referring to Bottas but if the intervals and track map dots are accurate it was a bunch of cars where Max got DRS while Lewis didn't or had to go off line into turn 1.
Is it true that Sauber is still the main stake holder and they could switch to Merc? Is that why there is talk about Albon to Alfa? Wouldn't that be a shame if they did switch to Merc and Bottas had to pull over for Ham and George.
The rumors about Alf a getting merc engines is all over the place.
Specifically because toto and vasuer both denied it quickly, kinda makes me believe it might happen.
There is talk of Nick devrys in the Sauber.... oops.... Alf a next year also. 2 Mercedes drivers in a sauber...
Considering Alfa and Ferrari are sister companies under Fiat, I can't see how Alfa would get Merc engines.
In reply to wvumtnbkr :
It would be odd that Ferrari would essentially let Sauber change engines. Mostly because how Sauber has been a Ferrari driver development team for so long- and that would end. And that would leave Ferrari with just Haas (or whatever it becomes).
And then add to the Mercedes power, too- almost making their powertrain the Cosworth DFV of the next half of the hybrid era.
One thing that it amusing through this- Horner. He says that Albon deserves an F1 seat, and is upset that Wolfe would prevent that since he's under Red BullE36 M3 contract. Horner has the easiest path to make sure Albon has and F1 seat of everyone out there....
(and on that note- is there any concern over Perez's recent drop off?? This is the same pattern for Albon and Gasley- show much promise early, and then drop off.....)

There are rumors that Alfa could be sold to Andretti- which opens up who's name is on the side. For sure, if Sauber goes Mercedes, "Alfa Romeo" is pulled off the car.

Alfa isn't actually Alfa, it's Sauber. They're owned by a Swiss investment company and the "Alfa Romeo" name on the side is just a sponsorship deal, so I suspect the most that Fiat could do about it would be to decline to renew the sponsorship and force them to find money somewhere else.

True. But I still can't see an Alfa sponsored car/team running Merc engines. Maybe if the team can find a new title sponsor.

Horner trying to make Toto the bad guy for Albon's lack of a seat caused quite a bit of entertainment around here. I guess he's learned from politicians that you just play to your base and they'll ignore pesky facts.
So, Albon, Gasley, Perez all drop off after getting the Red Bull #2 seat. After a while you have to stop looking at the drivers individually and look at what they have in common.

I predict Maybach. Maybe Maybach-Rolex if Rolex wasn't a title sponsor of the series.
