Hulk gets a penalty for passing in the pit exit. So now Gasly starts 5th and Hulk is 7th. I don't think Doohan will be a threat, but I'm really hoping Haas can outscore Alpine for 6th.
That sucks. Both teams put a lot into their cars these recent races to finish 6- which is pretty fun!

F1tv upgraded on Wednesday. Which means my Firestick V5.99 is not V6.0, so I'll be watching the race on cable, or on my computer.
Couldn't wait until Monday, right? Let's upgrade before the last race...

Oh, Checo... That's not how we wanted to see you go, but it's also not surprising....
In reply to wae :
Oh, max. To him, all the way along side is a late lunge barely getting by the rear tire at the apex.
To the max apologists- if he so very good, why does he need to do that kind of useless move? These are the reasons people hate max.

That was a divebomb move that made no sense at all.
Piastri's penalty seemed a little severe though.

Oof, not a real handy move by Bottas there.
It's bad enough that Max is dive bombing Oscar, but calling the stewards idiots on the radio is pretty distasteful.
Will Max ever mature enough to hold his hand up and say ya sorry that was my mistake instead of blaming the stewards for a penalty??
Not going to hold my breath....
Based on past stewarding, he had good reason to think he was safe from penalties for risky moves in turn 1. Just look at Hamilton's 4 car pile-up in Miami that went unpunished. Doesn't make it right, but I'm sure that was the calculation. Stewards have put the hammer down in recent races and if they stay consistent I'm cool with that.
So happy for McLaren, well done boys and girls!
I really like it when fast guys start at the back. Lewis had a good race, but Charle, to third in the first stint. Lordy, that move around the outside on lap one to get to eighth... jeez.
Leclerc earned that DOTD for sure! Amazing comeback especially lap 1.
Hopefully this tight competition continues into next year.
F2 spoiler....
I can't believe the season ended that way. Hadjar stalls the car and the championship is over right as the lights go out. Ooph. Rough!

It's not about the penalties, it's the fact than someone that's supposedly so brilliant constantly does those kind of "let me by or crash" moves. As if he isn't as good as advertised.

I blame Jos and the team in equal parts with Max(ironically that 33% blame is his race number lol)for his attitude.
When he commits a foul the team instantly agrees with him that he was wronged,I loved it earlier in the yr when the race engineer had enough and was giving it right back....clearly the team sided with Max in the briefing room and back to Max is always right on the radio afterwards.
I really don't see him sticking around in F1 much longer, kid of his own on the way now and more money then he could spend allready.
Shame but I won't really miss him to be fair. :)

4 WDC's disagree with you. He can be the best driver on the grid right and also make mistakes.
In reply to maschinenbau :
The thing Alfa and I agree on is that the majority of his contacts/forced off track etc aren't mistakes at all but intentional.
Same tactics that tainted otherwise great drivers and why I was never much of a Shumi/Prost/Senna fan either.
In reply to maschinenbau :
Nice defense- those are hardly mistakes.
Once again, if he really wants to be the best of all time, stop making moves that forces the other driver to let him have is way or crash. Those are lame moves and given the frequency he does them, they are not mistakes, but very, very intentional.
There was no way to make that pass, and even less of a need to, but he did it anyway
It's amazing how him and his fans don't accept it, and then whine about bias. What bs.

Being highly successful doesn't justify bad behaviour. Trying to justify it with petulant outbursts just compounds the bad behaviour.
Where did I defend or justify? I literally said mistake. All I did was hypothesize why he made that decision.
It's amazing how much this driver lives rent free in yall's heads. It's just a TV sport...

If he is as good as you seem to think, he doesn't make mistakes. So you need to figure out if he is a great driver or one that regularly makes mistakes while trying to pass people. Can't be both.
why is it so hard to accept that people don't like max? You put so much effort making excuses for his "mistakes." As if the disgust will change.

There was an inference in that statement.
As for rent free. Not really; I'm actually more surprised when he doesn't clang into people while trying to pass.
Senna and Schumacher pretty much did the same.
Farina is actually responsible for the deaths of two drivers.
I'm just a casual fan of Max (not even my favorite) but yall are obsessed. You really can't tolerate someone not hating him.
Max doesn't live rent free in people's heads, he's jammed into people's heads by the constant adulation of him. He's put up on a pedestal but the 3 WDCs he earned didn't come from superlative racecraft. He can put down a very fast lap but that's not the only dimension you need. It's not surprising he's a big sim racer, a lot of his passing moves are ones that remind me of playing Gran Turismo on a Playstation 1.
That's two races in a row we've seen Lewis on a tear. Passing George around the outside on T9 on the last lap, beautiful. He and Charles were the two best out there today. It's going to be very interesting to see how they interact next year. I think it'll be very good for Charles. But that's for another thread...
