Wisconsin Air-cooled V4?
edit: Doesn't look like it now.. never mind
Ok. I spotted this jewel being parted out on CL. I struck a deal and am buying this for my '57 Ford Vanette stepvan build. Very rare...What is it?

That looks like the Subaru F1 engine from back in the day. However, i thought the subaru engine was a Flat 12, not a 16.

I appreciate your enthusiasm for answer, 4 times, that's a record for double double posts I think. But alas, your 20 odd years too late with the Scoobie guess. I screwed up as if you look carefully at the placard behind it the answer is in there.

I'm approx. 103.2% sure this is wrong, but that looks a little bit like the Scoobie logo. How about a Fuju heavy industries stationary engine?
P.S. wvumtnbkr, this is the Scoobie F1 engine, no point in using this in the guessing game as it's pretty obvious.

Wow, now I'm really interested. Pray tell, even if it needs to be PM'd so as not to spoil it for the ubber geeks

It looks a bit like the 460 Ford in my BIL's old F250, but it's years since I've looked under the hood so I'm not sure.

Yup!
But 1996 Mass Air 300 inline 6. 1 year only, all other EFI's were Speed Density. I can add a turbo without driveability issues. I have been searching a while and am pretty excited.
(Note: no hotlink checking, and if oldeskewltoy is playing, he's not allowed to guess, as this is hotlinked from his photobucket)
In reply to JohnInKansas: Looks like a Boss 9 with thw wrong paint?
Edit: looks like I'm wrong, but its not mopar either.

Well done, one internet cookie to you. I really thought I was the only one sad enough to remember that engine.
In reply to Adrian_Thompson:
its a Stirling hot air engine running a generator. we had to pick some way to power a generator without the use of a combustion type engine. i was the only one the professor told me to use a hot air engine as a power source for the tens years he had students doing the project
