Came across this good loking (imo) and probably non performance adder.
Owner is asking 20$... i may buy it since it will probably loom good in the shop..
What are they? Anyone know about that?

Looks almost like somebody copied an old Nicson or Offenhauser part..
Maybe a Cal-Custom dress-up piece.
At $20.00 it would already be hanging on my wall.
Owner dont want to ship so.. it wont be on my wall! He sais he pay that 400$ 25 years ago... he put it on a 70 charger 400... at least it had a good life :)
I forget who sold them but it was supposed to dress a four barrel up to look like a set of side drafts. There should have been some kind of filter in it if I remember right but they weren’t high performance. They were pretty much the definition of all show no go.
I remember seeing them in the ads in car magazines, back in the late 1970s or early 1980s I think. There isn't any filter in that thing, and it's not clear where you would put one considering the whole underside is open to the air.
Would have had a small, round element on top of the carb throat for an air filter.
They're actually a performance remover because stock air cleaner assemblies tend to shape the air flow into the carburetor a bit better than just an open element plunked on top of the carb.
He overpaid 25 years ago. By a LOT. To the point that he’s probably exaggerating a few hundred dollars.
For $20 though, it’s awesome.
It looks like you might be able to slide small filter elements in the gaps between the air horns and the main plenum; there seems to be a channel that looks as if it may have been designed for that purpose. Also seems it could be used for one or two carbs (with another mounting plate). Still not a performance piece, though.
I don't doubt that they were super expensive. Just look how much people charge for carb hats for boost, or velocity stacks in general. But yeah, cool looking piece and if it was local and $20 i would 100% go buy it.
