Before anything goes in make sure the floor is good. Seal/paint or whatever to make sure it is easier to clean up after a project. 20 years ago I sealed and stained my new floor and while it looks bad it still lets me wipe up oil without staining. Can spray brake cleaner on spots and won't remove the stain. This is easier to do BEFORE anything is moved in.
