Hey gang,

I just scored a full oxyacetylene welding setup from a neighbor for a whopping $35! (all 7 of my vehicles are cringing in fear).

Anyway, the neighbor mentioned that he couldn't find the owner's certificate or registration or something for the cylinders. I didn't care, but now i'm wondering if i'll run into trouble when trying to refill the cylinders.

So, is there some law in PA where i need to have some sort of paperwork for these cylinders?

thanks,

Mike

Don't know about PA but here in MA you need a permit from the town and your insurance co to have acetylene on site. This is one of the reasons i used propane instead.

1) no permit needed. 2) CHEAPER! 3) no matrix inside the tank means more volume per fill. 4) if you can find HPG (high Purity gas) its 600deg hotter.

In GA, the only restricton I know of is DOT transporting standards, and the only issue I've had is that the gas store won't load a tank into an enclosed vehicle, so I have to do it myself.

I bought my tank.

take them back to the original supplier and there should be no issues. Here ( Ohio ) only High pressure tanks have regulations. They need exstensive inspection on a regular basis.

Some gas dealers will "take " others cylinders. And exchange them. Others will not. Call ahead with info printed on the cylinder.

Have fun! Wear PPE!

We also must sign a release to carry a cylinder in a closed vehicle. And load it ourselves.

Check out the cool photos they have of exploded cars and trucks and you'll see why

You'll need to log in to post.
