Alright going to take my first stab at a VS thread.
I figure to help level the playing field at least power wise I would go with the Super Coupe instead of the Turbo Coupe when going up against the GN.
Personally I think the GN has it in the bag, though I have seen some fast SCs out there.
VS
That's not even fair.
GN for the win any way you look at it.

Oh please, GN every day and twice on Sunday.
Grand National. Linked to more famous race cars (Buddy Ingersol's shaking up Pro Stock), more high powered builds out there, much more menacing appearance.

Yeah.... not fair to the t-chicken. GN all the way and back.
Does the GN have anything going for it other than the engine? I hate the T-Bird and don't like the GN.
GN, easier than the one with the Starion in it.

G-Body suspension parts are damn cheap and it looks like it should be driven by Darth Vadar. What else do you want?
I bet you can't guess which one I am voting for.

As much as I hate to say it the stock handling is nothing to write home about. It is decent, I have driven worse but there is much better out there. That being said you can always throw money at the suspension and it being a popular platform (G Body) there are a growing number of aftermarket sources for some interesting parts to help things along. The chassis was stiffened in a couple ways compared to say my Cutlass though, but there were other things left off that were on other G bodys that could easily be put in.
So what would be more fair game for the GN to hunt? And remember I am talking a regular GN not even getting into GNX territory yet

For a RWD Coupe, it has a decent suspension. You can mix-and-match everything GM to make all sorts of coolness with them. They are mostly drag racers, but there have been a few good road-race cars (and lots of roundy-rounders).
Plus you know, one of the greatest engines of all time.
What else do you want?
Maybe that Trans Am that came with the GN engine. That would be some improvement.

Looks. And the engine.
The only good things about the MN12 platform are the IRS and the looks (though they aren't better than the GN). Other than that, it's a huge, overweight boat that was sold with engines that were either fragile (3.8L in both forms) or terribly choked off (5.0L and the anemic non-PI 4.6L).
GN by a gigantic margin. Not close.
Are you kidding?
Grand National. The SC doesn't have a chance.
I'll take the motorcyle in the background of the GN picture.
REALLY?! Is this even a question?
GN all the way!!!!!
this thread is too obvious.
i propose a formal thread jack:
GN vs. Turbo Mark III Supra

GN. A good buddy of mine had a SC that he was constantly putting money into. It was fast! The problem was nothing else in the drivetrain could handle anything more than stock HP. The carnage flowed down the powertrain. The trans kept breaking. He spend $$$ to get it built, then the drive shaft broke twice. Had a custom d-shaft built, then the ring gear got real smooth. Then the axles broke.
I like both of them, but there's no contest, unless money is a factor. I can't afford a clapped out GN.

Ima wait til the mk3 and the GN have their own thread.
not a fair fight at all.....GN is already a legend and a decent GNX is bringing 80-90k.

GN's are so choice. There were two issues, handling and braking.

Still GN by three and half miles.
