Ok, so i'm looking for a cheap, easy way to make this with two caveats:

1) It's got to be so easy, a caveman could do it

2) Said caveman has to be able to yield acceptable results.

The wing/spoiler on the "Rocket Bunny" kit.

Lay it on me!

So you want it easy and good looking?

Problem solved.

CHEAP, easy, and good looking? Hmmm...

Start with the spoiler from a 2G camarobird, and modify to suit.

Heh, well... gotta say i earned that one.

Cheap is, as usual, relative.

For what it's worth, i have a Saab "Whale Tail" that i pulled out of the junkyard for $5.27 on Monday that is within a half inch of fitting perfectly.

It's just not quite as high as this, and doesn't go down the back of the trunk like i'm wanting.

Maybe i could use this as a base and just add on from there?

Posted on MNMazda, but i'll repost here. What you need is a wing that would normally poke out the back, like a decklid lip, if you will. Not much vertical, but sticks out horizontally. Take it and flip it, so that the horizontal face is now the vertical face. Imagine where it says Goodyear, being parallel to the top of the decklid- and then flipping it to where it is now.

Exactly.

This is what i already have.

It's about 1/2" too narrow, not quite as tall as i want, and doesn't go down the back at all.

What is that last thing and how would it attach?

last thing = "Turnbuckle" , for attachment, google "Elgen bracket"

Perfect!!! Thanks!

Now i just have to decide if i want it to look that "racey" or not.

turnbuckle and it would attach to the trunk lid below the spoiler via U-shaped bracket. Check out some of the older Trans-AM, GT1 or NASCAR race cars to get an idea.

I would use the SAAB spoiler as a basis for a mold. Just use some flower foam blocks to build a base on it to get it at the right height and angle for your desires. Wrap it in plastic packing tape, making sure there are no leaks and then buy lay up a bunch of fiberglass. Offset the weave to improve strength and try to keep the amount of resin to a minimum. Keep adding layers until you reach a desired thickness and let it dry thoroughly (which will take a while in the winter)

Once dry and you're happy with the shape and size, melt the spoiler and foam out with some thinner (the spoiler may come out in one piece, but it should loosen up enough to fall out)

From there its just standard body work efforts to make it look decent and to attach it to the car, you could even add a third taillight if you wanted. If you screw it up, you can repair with fiberglass or toss it and start over again.

HomeDepot carries some 'glass cloth and resin. It isn't the best, but it will work for this type of project. If you get serious you can look at using carbon fiber, kevlar or aluminum honeycomb with a kiln and a vacuum bag, but that requires a lot of work and tooling that most don have (unless you have a friend in the prosthetic, airplane, autoracing or sailing businesses)

Good luck!
