Okay, so what's the hot set up with recording and diagnosing telemetry for your car? Let's assume you have prehistoric vehicle with no computers on it and you want to record stuff like exhaust gas temp, intake temp, brake application, oil temp, coolant temp, etc. What do you use to record that information and what software do you use to put it into a useable format for analysis?
How involved do you want to get? How much do you want to spend?
Cheap and no programming- Get a 1996+ junkyard pcm, engine harness and matching sensors. Attach to your motor. Get a cheapo ebay elm327 obd2 dongle and the torque app for your android phone.
Cheap and customizable with programming- torque supports direct connection to arduino now, so whatever sensors you can dream and attach can be read and logged.

Expensive options- ill pass the mic on this one. Any takers?
