You guys are not going to rivet the mounts?

The bodywork is fiberglass

Warren,

Can you please share a template for the shifter cutout on the new transmission cover? I have an old style cover, and wondering how much clearance I will need for the shifer.

If the frame was already powdercoated, probably. But we're building this one on bare metal specifically so we can weld and modify as needed. I'd rather have welded brackets than riveted ones.

Just wanted to say it was an absolute pleasure to meet Kevin and check out the business. Absolutely love the chassis and the quality was worth the wait!

That's a lot of green! There's also something very interesting going on with your thermostat neck.

Yes I had an idea to use the rear housing as an outlet to a custom coolant supply line for the turbo. I've recently changed my mind about that though and will probably be just blocking off that whole neck.

Warren, please sum up what these spacers are exactly for and who should be buying them. If I'm to order them, I want to do it soon, considering you guys probably still have some of my powdercoating colors there. But I also don't want to buy them if they're not necessary. Thanks.

The upper shock mounting points on the Exocet are higher than those of the Miata. This means the effective travel range of the suspension is moved - the car has more compression travel, less droop travel and for a given shock setup, will sit lower.

If you're using the stock suspension off your donor, awesome.

If your shocks have limited droop travel, you can run into a situation where you run out of droop. This is not a good thing. These spacers move the shock mounting point down so it's similar to the Miata one, and your shocks will thus have Miata geometry.

One more question. Are the new style front bulk head plates different between a sport and race chassis?

Is it possible for Kevin or Warren from Exomotive post pics describing exactly how to install the spacers? Which one goes where, orientation, etc. would be helpful!

As an additional note for the rear, you'll want to put the spacer's top bolts in first (bottom-up), attach the shocks to the spacers, tighten the nuts on the shock studs, then attach the spacers to the frame. Some really long aftermarket shock studs may need their tips ground.

To summarize the orientation

Front: Three holes down, ear back.

Rear: Ears up, slot out.

Also, these are designed to reduce frame damage in a crash, so if you hit something hard enough to break suspension components, check to make sure these things are still straight, as they may have sacrificed themselves to save your frame. The material absorbs a lot of energy and will deform quite a bit before tearing.

A bit OT but I just want to make sure I got what I need before cutting them to make them fit.

The only difference between race and sport is the addition of the cage tubes and the steel floors. The changes to the aluminum bulkhead panels came with the new tunnel. What do you need to cut?

On the both sides, the tab on the bottom needs to be trimmed around the tube in order for the panel to fit.

Derp moment.

That lower tab goes on the engine bay side of the chassis... Doesn't it?

Danny George looked at the Exocet and asked: "that looks cool, but how well will it put down four digits?" I guess we'll find out soon.

A 4-digit HP Exocet? That might be the craziest car on the planet that's not sitting in a museum. Or maybe even including the ones that are.
