GRM F1 Miami - who is going?

Hey team - I'll be working the F1 race as a flag marshal and wondered how many other GRM folks might attending the race?

Wish I could say I was going, but tickets are out of my price range right now. I'll be there in spirit, just watching from home.

I've had ticket ads all over my FB this past week.  They are actually cheaper than last year, but still out of my price range.  GA for 3 days is only $450 now, what a bargain! /s

I'll be avoiding the madhouse, and going to Sebring for the SRO Pirelli Challenge races instead.

I took my boat to the first one, made it right behind the back straight then was promptly Ford Econoboxed away by some cops in a boat.  I had researched and called different jurisdictions ahead of the event and nobody could tell me what the rules were.

We ended up anchoring just out of their no-fly zone near T16 and put it on the TV.  At least could hear the live action and see the wings flashing by.

Tix and circus too much for me, will go towards the racing budget.

The security there is pretty interesting with the bomb sniffing dogs. I was at Alpha for the first race (Right across the Finish line) Got to see all of the drivers come in and all pre-race festivities. Lando signed my McLaren hat I had on during the sighting day for all of the chief post marshals. I was excited that I was going to get to see the podium then I learned they were doing it on the other side of the stadium. 

It was a heck of a show. 

It's gotten too much for me to marshal these events now. The cost to marshal that race is the same as all of my track days for the year so I'd rather go to the track and drive. 

Just waiting for that fourth mortgage to be approved so I can buy some tickets.

Just got a text from a friend, one of his friends is selling 3 day passes for 1K each..  At this rate a will that be enough to finance that race weekend?  I'm definitely sitting this one out.  

I don't think I'm internet famous enough to attend.

Booo - Come join us and be trackside and get a free ticket!  We are massively short of US marshals now that we have three races.
