Makes total sense.

Though I do think s197 and NC are shoe-ins.

maybe in the spirit of march madness we should do a bracket style event...

we can have a bracket for each category (soft top fun, hard top fun, box/family hauler/tow vehicle, off road)

pick the top 8 cars for each bracket, stack rank based on nominations, and build a bracket.

I fully support this idea. Can we do polls on this forum?

I consider my Maverick a trifecta in one vehicle.

Fun to drive. No. Really.

Tows 4k.

Okay, no drop top but I'm okay with that.

Did I mention how comfortable it is?

30+mpg

What's funny is our current DD fleet is the following...

  • 2006 Mazda5
  • 2023 Maverick Ecoboost 4k tow
  • 2009 Mercury Grand Marquis

There's a ton of Mazda5 love on here. It's smaller and handier than anything with 3 rows has a right to be. Its good, but I can't get over my dislike of FWD and it is utterly lacking in the acceleration department. Plus ours is an automatic.

The Maverick - it's pretty much perfect. The turbo has grunt and punches well. I mean, you aren't inspired to pitch it sideways and slide it, but it handles confidently. Plus alllll the utility. I have very few minor gripes with it. It's just about perfect.

In other news, got tags for the Mercury today. Wife loves the car that is a couch and really likes the performance exhaust. Finds it soothing. Plus...  Torque!
