Now that you mention the odd flasher on the Explorer I remember that the Fusion we test drove had the same thing. I surely didn't like it, but that wasn't what kept me from buying the car. It was the rest of the awkward ergonomics and godawful steering/handling feel. And the 'look-I'm-a-cell-phone' dash, instrument cluster and touch-based controls. Put on a pair of cold weather gloves and you can't drive the car....

I agree. I had to get the owners manual out for a few of the controls on the 85 911, so I'm used to dealing with bizarre control placement and labeling, but once I got it I was fine with them.
What REALLY thows me off is my damn two main bikes. The Triumph has the horn and blinkers in the standard location while the BMW has them flipped. On the BMW I kept turning my blinker on when trying to hit the horn (and the opposite which is even more embarrassing)! These damn germans drive me crazy, luckily they came to their senses on the k1300s and put the controls where the rest of the world does.

To me, how a car's interior looks is just a marketing thing. How it feels and the placement of the critical controls (aka steering wheel, pedals and shifter) is what makes me keep a car from an interior point of view.
