I have been doing a bit of reading on it and on paper it looks to be a fantastic machine.
I was interested to hear from someone that has driven one.
I also wonder if tho is going to make the previous generation of them more affordable as current owners move to the new cars.

They just hit the showrooms. I've seen a bunch at the dealership, but none on the road yet. I'm not sure how people are going to respond to the four cylinder turbos. People who just want a Porsche won't care, but repeat customers may be slow to warm up to the idea. I'm sure they're awesome, but also different. I know that I wasn't ready to deal with owning a Porsche turbo.
400 hp in the zippy one. Not to long ago that was super car territory. I wonder if this will hurt or help things at Porsche.
My neighbor just leased one. I got to say the sound really was different. In fact my wife who is only a car person because of me even noticed it. She made the comment saying that she liked the sound of his old 981 much better. That really surprised me that it was noticeable enough that she would comment on it.
Last month I got to drive them at the local dealers presentation. My daughter is the title clerk/event planner for the local Porsche/BMW/Jaguar/Land Rover/Volvo dealer. She roped me and a couple others from the autocross club to set up a simple autocross course for them to show off the new 718 Boxster. Got to drive a 2016 Boxster, 2017 718 Boxster and 2017 718 Boxster S. All with PDK in Sports+ mode. The 718 is everything the old one was, maybe a bit better. Very little turbo lag and just as fast as the 6.

I test drove a 2011 base Cayman on Saturday. If they get better than that, holy hell I want one. I'm considering replacing my MSM with a 987, but the Cayman S is still a little more than I want to spend. Hopefully the 718 is that good and will bring the prices of the 987s down.
