I want to add heating elements to the front two seats of the Cherokee (and maybe the rear seats later).

Anyone here have experience with this? Any thoughts on where to get the kits at a decent price?

I've should have a few sets, I used to install them. They are from Seat Comfort Systems, I can't remember the model name but they have hi and low settings. If you're interested, shoot me a PM and I'll double check and make sure i have them. I know I have heated and ventilated kits, not 100% sure on the heat kits.

Seeing as I can buy OEM replacement seat heater pads for my Saab, you could probably also retrofit something from another vehicle if you wired it up right (or maybe stole the harness and switch too).

We bought and installed them in the g/f's Spitfire when I rewired the car. I believe they werethe Seat Comfort ones, but I'd swear every kit I've seen looks the same. Anyway, I don't know if we installed them wrong, but they don't work. There's power to the harness plugs, but the pads don't seem to generate heat. I even plugged in another pad (we bought sets for two cars), and it barely got warm at all.

I installed heaters from http://www.heaterseats.com in my Miata. They have 2 heat settings, and were easy to install. The switches have a very OE look to them. They work very well - I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Not especially cheap, but they've lasted 5 years so far without any problems.

I documented putting them in my 850, I bought some factory switches on eBay, and used the factory wiring harness/switch with a Dorman kit.

Nope, sorry. I thought I had a set, but I have a set of the heated and ventilated units and a set of the seat massagers.
If anyone is interested just let me know. If not, I'll just put them on eBay or something.

What are "ventilated" units? How does that work?

Basically, you have a fan mounted on the underside of the seat and it pulls air from the seat cushion to keep you from getting monkey butt. If you have leather, the seat covers need to be perforated, some cloth seats breath well enough already.

One of my students bought one of these to evenly heat up acrylic sheet to bend it for her furniture project. It was only $60.00 or so110v and would get very hot. There are 12v pads any size you can think of on the net.
