You are all forgetting one important detail. Insurance for this car has got to be INSANE!!! I dare ya to call your agent for a quote.
I don't know how insane insurance for a Hellcat will be, but the difference between a '13 Dart and a '13 SRT Super Bee (with 2.5 times the power of the Dart) is $40/mo, for a married woman in her 40s.
I would love to see this engine in the 300 SRT.

I was fully prepared to be underwhelmed by the Hellcat's performance and price point.
Now, i am fairly impressed. As a mopar 'fan' it's nice to see them doing something right. And they really needed a halo car that actually gives a halo effect because the new Viper seems to have fallen flat.

i'd love to see it in something that doesn't weigh 4400 pounds. maybe a rwd conversion on a Dart..
crate motor would be a winnah

From what I've heard, it's not that the Viper has fallen flat, but that the Viper is and has been too raw and too little luxury for the price; not to mention that it doesn't really have direct competitors.
Pandering to old dudes waxing nostalgic for a time that never was must be profitable... because the big three just can't seem to get enough of it.
Throw this abortion on the pile with the 4500lb Camaro RSZ1YENKOSS as things that hopefully make good donor cars after the gold teefs and rimz crowd are done driving them into trees. I'd have said "grampa moneybags" but he is hoarding them away in a garage with 5 miles on the odo and his estate will sell it after he is gone. He never will.

Exactly. Things are getting pretty crazy again.

I'm no old dude and would love to have this car. Some of you guys would bash anything.

There are more younger guys buying the late model Hemi cars than baby boomers. Witnessed that at the last two Mopar shows and seeing it locally too. I'm seeing at least 2:1 of 20/30-somethings driving them than the 50+ crowd.
I'm waiting for the Hellcat engines to start showing up in yards so I can install one in my customer's Pro Street Duster.
I bet most people who buy this car will be in this category, lol

Agreed.
I don't like Mopars but I find this thing pretty damn impressive.
Some folks would complain if they found a $100 bill and it wasn't a new one.
SRT8's already wind up sitting in garages. To find one that's gone more than about 2k miles a year is unusual.
But yeah, it's generating a LOT of chatter. That's what drives people to websites then to dealers... Chrysler is doing pretty much the same thing now that Ford did with the GT a few years ago. At least they didn't build another joke like the Viper powered pickups or the Rumble Bee.
oh god just looked up the Rumble Bee, terrible.
Maybe this will help.

I think the main issue is that they did not push the ball forward enough with the new generation and the 'wow' factor of the whole Viper concept wore off sometime in the middle of the last generation. At this point it has to get better, and while it did, i dont think it did it by ENOUGH to maintain prestige or plant the enthusiast seed in the minds of adolescents. The viper used to be EXTREME. Now there are a large number of supercars more extreme than the Viper itself, and without the 'bleeding edge' aura it used to have, it just comes off as unrefined and brash.

This I could get behind. Talk about a CTS-V Fighter (I know it's a much larger car, but still....)
I just am not really interested in anything to do with this car. And for the life of me I can't figure out why.

Maybe you accidentally slipped up and caught the gay???
I heart big HP. I love the sound of a V8. But this car doesn't light me up either because it's aimed squarely at the drag race crowd which I am not a part of. Make the sonofabitch turn and brake, then we will talk.
It only run a 12.11@118 at Bandimere today with a dumbass at the wheel.

Horsepower is no replacement for smart-making.

did it at least do a glorious 1/4 mile burnout, since that's what people really want to see out of a car like this?
