What car is this?

Ferrari? Nardi?

1955 Ferrari 500 Mondial Series II by Scaglietti? Or early 60’s GTO? I’m not that well versed in old Ferrari’s but they sure look amazing

It looks to be a later Testa Rosa. And the two pictures look to be different cars. That based on the air outlets behind the front wheels.

Agreed, my first thought was 57 250TR.

Both of those observations coincide with my initial thoughts.

I stopped at an estate sale in town yesterday. I remember seeing Ferraris and other exoctica parked around this house back in the 80's and 90's. Never had the nerve to just walk up and talk to the guy. The cars are long gone, as is the owner. But the barn was full of old posters, mostly Ferrari stuff. Not many car parts, although I did find two brand new jaguar XKE cylinder heads, one still in it's original crate, some MB Jeep stuff and some very old Ford parts.

I was told that this was the owner in the photos.

I bought two vintage Ray Dot mirrors that I have no use for.

Did you get any of the posters?

I agree with the potential to be a mid 50’s Mondial , probably the 4 cylinder since it lacks the bubble of the V12’s. the later TR’s ( Testa Rossa’s ) had cut away fenders to allow the early drum brakes to cool. Also all the TR’s were V12’s and had a very distinctive bubble over the carbs

the GTO’s were all coupes with Kamm tails.

In reply to Woody :

Definetly Scaglietti body. Probably Ferrari. The only non Ferrari it could possibly be is an Ermini 357, and they only made 3 of them. That is what Bill Devin pulled the mold from for his fiberglass bodies. So it could be a Devin too, but the details make me think it is an original aluminum car. Very small front brakes and large appearance of the driver makes me think it might be one of the Erminis, they were tiny.  Background in lower photo suggests Thompson or Bridgehampton. No idea in the upper one.

The location of the estate sale would also indicate Thompson or Bridgehampton as likely venues.

Disregard.

I went back this morning with the intention of buying the two framed photos shown above. They were sold yesterday.

I asked about the posters on the wall. There were about 25. I offered to buy them all, but he said $100. I was thinking $35 and we couldn't come to an agreement. He also had two Ferrari flags that he wanted $60 each for. They are ten bucks new on eBay.

There was another guy who came in behind me and offered $125 for the flags and posters. The other guy countered with $150. I think he ended up buying the posters  but not the flags. I didn't see much in there that I wanted to hang on my garage walls anyway. Maybe I'm the dummy and the other guy will make big bucks on the posters, but I don't think so.

There was a box of parts (non-Ferrari) that I made an offer on, but we were hundreds of dollars apart on them. I left my card, but I'm not very optimistic about hearing back from him.

Dear internet:

Thanks for making every neat old thing 10 times more expensive than it should be. In closing, get bent.

These are the Ray Dot mirrors that I bought. They were used on something, but it doesn't look like they were on the car in the photos above.

I don't have anything to put them on.

I lust after those. I searched High and low for those when  I restored my Black Jack Special. They are very desired 1950’s era accessories

In the end I wound up buying a whole Corvette race car to get them.

Well bought.

The wire wheels scream Ferrari. The 4 cylinders were only 2 Liters as compared to the 3 liter V12’s

Huh? I have a pair that I bought not too long ago brand new. They're available on some of the cobra kit car parts we sites.

Unless you mean originals and not reproductions.

I only paid $25 for the pair. At $12.50 each, I couldn't say no, even though I have nothing to put them on! If you can use them, you can have them for what I paid plus shipping.

Have you ever posted pictures of your Black Jack Special?

Yes a few times but I needed help to do it.  It’s on my Facebook page along with approx $200 million dollars worth of very famous cars. I’m on the pole next to one of the two 75 million dollar Ferrari’s in the field. followed by the actual 1956 LeMans winning D type. Also in the Field is the factory  Corvette SS built just for racing by Duntov with magnesium everything. That was finished in time to be banned by the AAA ban on factory racing.

A Porsche RSK  first driven by Hap Sharp and then sold to Roger Penske  the Pooper, ( Porsche powered Cooper )

The reason the race meant so much to me is I flew S2E’s  ( twin engine Grumman built Carrier based planes) from North Island for my years in the Navy  where the race was held

The fun part of that track is the car got airborne as I crossed the duty runway  and as soon as the car touched down you had to dive bomb the brakes to slow down enough to make the button hook turn.  As it compressed the car on landing I could really put my leg into getting stopped.

Besides they awarded me this beautiful engraved crystal trophy bowl onboard an aircraft carrier. How cool was that
