Help me value a fastback for a Miata

Have you considered a flying buttress design? It might make glass and trunk access easier.

How close in size and shape is your fastback to the rear glass/hatch from the MX3?

I would love one. Love love love one. I'd even drive down and bring it home. Unfortunately I think the most is be able to justify on a hardtop is maybe 1500. I have a stock miata hardtop... I've often wondered if someone could make a fastback "add on" for a stock too though...

I'm not ruling that price out.

This thread is to begin trying to establish a reasonable price point. I will have to determine the production cost, and see if there is any profit.

Let me just say that I am absolutely confidant that I can beat most prices out there (for a lot of reasons).

Basically nobody who wants an early Miata fastback is going to pay what's nearly the cost of the car for a good one.

My meeting went well.

I'm thinking I want to design a rear window that can use a stock piece of glass from another car (or Lexan).

Anyone have any thoughts on what car's rear window might work? The first one that came to mind was Chrysler Crossfire, but I think it is too curved, and the corners too square.

I'm looking for something that tapers from top to bottom, with rounded corners like the Warhorse version. I don't want it to be from an expensive or rare vehicle, like a Mercedes, a Porsche, a Tesla, or an Opel GT.

First Gen RX7 is interesting. Its the rear window and hatch. Probably too big though.

Too heavy, and the wrap down sides will not enable seating properly on the fenders.

I needs something that looks more "flat".
