My Civic is making a super high pitch squealing noise and I can't figure out what it is. I am 99% sure it isn't in the engine or transmission because it doesn't make the noise when the engine is running and it will make the noise when the car is rolling and the clutch pedal is depressed. I don't think it is that new brake pads are needed because it makes the noise even when not braking.
Wait... when the engine is running, it doesn't make the noise?
That's my vote. Does it go away if the car is in neutral with the clutch pedal up? (Not depressed.)
Edit: Oh, crap, never mind. Squealing when it's not running but being pushed? And the clutch is depressed? Got to be brakes or wheel bearings, right? Something that's moving when the engine and transmission aren't.
Wheel bearing would be my first guess. Only happens when the car is moving, right? Coming from front or rear?
I am pretty sure it is something with the heating system. It did it for the first time while sitting still the other day. And since it has warmed up I haven't used the heat and it hasn't done it since.

Could be a bad accessory pulley too, only squeals under load, which would be increased while the car is moving along.

Any news? Have you tried kicking the fan off when the noise starts? If it was doing it more often when the car is sitting still, I might guess cooling fan. When my integra's started crapping out, it was the worst sound I'd ever heard.
