That is an interesting stock RWD idea.

Protesting a course for being too fast.... seems odd to me. I thought going fast was fun.
NER related problems
Just drove a BRZ and a WRX both with factory installed short shifters.
I will add more later.
The BRZ is everything you hear it is. It's light, crisp, responsive, the seats are great, the short shifter is amazing, the steering is precise and it's quieter than a Miata. I respected the car only had 6 miles, but it seems to have the right amount of power. The looks are incredible in person. It's tiny! This is the car I would buy if I didn't have a kid at home still and loved all my events on pavement. If you want a car for the backroads, the dragon, the local autocross or track night in America, this is your car.
The shifter is Miata precise. The steering is Boxster like. The seat to me and seating position are probably the best I've encountered.
The WRX. It's not the looker the original US 04 STI was. But honestly, Subarus outside the BRZ have never had exotic looks. It does look better in person than photos. The sound is better than the BRZ. There is a hint of Subie burble. The seating position is higher relative to the floor and I like to be low. This car soaks up bad pavement better due to more suspension travel. It's still quite stiff though. The cockpit seems way to airy for a Subaru. There is a lot more glass and more screens. I read reviews saying the steering and clutch were vague. I thought the clutch was like most newer cars including my Si. The steering yes it might be over boosted.
I took a cloverleaf on-ramp in both cars at the same exact speed. Both seemed fine. My wife said it seemed better and slower in the passenger seat of the WRX. I think it was the higher seating and more light in the car. It seemed pretty confident too.
I'd love to get the BRZ. However when all the jacked up trucks here, potholes and a nine year old, the WRX might be a better fit for me.
And then there is stock AWD rallycross.

That is super cool. I got a car already though. I put mudflaps on it today and all weather mats. It'll be ready for stock AWD next spring. I have a skid plate I may tackle tomorrow.

I'm sure it's amazing fun but I really need to reduce the number of cars and sirens more time on my old man hobbies.

What did you get??

Good choice. What year?
A guy at the rallycrosses has a stock 2015 WRX (with a pan?) that's done double duty as his DD since he bought it new.
This thread has me thinking even more about RWD rX though since I too like to oversend my Saabaru
In reply to P3PPY :
The new chassis is stiffer with more suspension travel. No cool STI drivetrain stuff but I think it will do just fine for my purposes.

Great cars no doubt. I drove a new BRZ and it is incredible. It isn't AWD though and I'm a stock AWD guy.
