Friend has a 2014 GM Sierra he bought new and put about 80k on it. Recently he dropped it off because it was shifting real hard.
Dealer said the shifting hard was due to 4 injectors being bad, but when they opened the hood they could smell that the trans pump had failed and the trans was burnt up.
The injectors sounds like pure bullE36 M3, but shifting hard could be related to a bad pump. I am just skeptical about a trans pump going bad in 80k.
Any thoughts from the hive?

Nope, transmission pumps are not an uncommon occurrence on those new trucks, especially by that mileage. Seen the guys here at the shop replace a number of pumps. Drove a few where by 75k the pumps are screaming like a Ford power steering pump anytime you get on the throttle.
I don't know about the injectors causing a shifting issue, unless he has a Check Engine Light on, but failed injectors on the '14+ trucks are also pretty common. Usually you'll get a P050D Cold Start Misfire, or just general E36 M3ty running. The '14-'18 trucks are kind of terrible.
Great. Bought new. 2016 Silverado.

Check engine light was on, not sure what code was though. I'd assume replace all the injectors while its apart? Is there a reworked/upgraded part number or anything?
Appreciate the help

Not that I'm aware of. But I believe there is now special coverage on them to warranty them until 10 years/100k miles. Before, injectors were only covered under bumper-to-bumper 3 year/36,000, so that's a big help.

That would be nice. Know if there is anything specific to search for to find more info on that? TSB or a GM notice or anything?

Well, well, well, well, well, well. What do we have here? Almost a year to the date with 106,000 miles and my tranny has bitten the dust with this same issue?
Well at least I helped the tranny place make payroll this week.

you and me both, but at least you have a truck :)
My friend bought a 2011 (chevy, 4x4, extended cab) with 37k on it with a known trans problem (he got it right due to that) I thought no way is it a bad trans with that mileage it must be a bad solenoid or something. Long story short new trans almost $5k I nearly fell over. It may have been done at NickD's dealership (we seem to live about 15 miles from each other).
sorry to your checkbook.

I don't understand your post. Can you explain it better?
I sure like my 00 Silverado with a 4.8 and NV3500...

I've got a 2001 1500HD and won't buy anything newer than a gmt800. New enough to be very reliable and comfortable but but still very simple.
