Turned the tv on and against my better judgement I have the indy nascar race on in the background and they just announced a "competition caution" lol. Seriously?

they did 2 of them in the eldora truck race this past week. at least in that race, you held your position through the pit stop, although those that stay on track instead of pitting get bumped up ahead of those that pit.
not sure why they do them. kind of takes pit strategy out of the race if they essentially pause the race at a set lap and freeze the field and everyone can take all the time they need to get tires and fuel.
id rather see pitting under green and teams having to decide when they need to stop instead of this nonsense.
I think the idea is safety, to not force the teams to run til their tires pop. Not fewer yellows but fewer wrecks....
they generally do it when the teams were having tire wear issues in practice or if Goodyear brought a new tire design to see how things are holding up under race conditions.
