i have decided on buying a hotwater pressure washer or a steam jenny and cant decide on what to buy. the biggest thing is pricing...it's all over the board and everyone offers them i would like to stay in the $2,500.00 to $3,000.00 range unless someone knowns of one cheaper that is good. Northern Equipment seems to have some at a nice price. i would prefer 120v but i think i will have to go 230v which isnt a problem at garage.

what i am really looking for is information on what to look for in the way its constructed and what to stay away from in the way it's constructed

Go to CPO outlets, they sell a lot of rebuilt units that were warranty returns and have Karcher as a supplier, I got mine from their and its been great, maybe 60% of retail price.

You do understand that those are two completely different things, right?

A true steam cleaner, which Jenny does make, is a real steam pressure vessel, and is built accordingly. It is not a device you want to have rupture, so the price reflects the build requirements. A hot water pressure cleaner is nowhere near as exciting when it breaks.

I've used both, and for serious cleaning, a high pressure steam cleaner wins. They also do a whole lot more damage if you're not carefull. Which considering the damage you can do with any high pressure washer, is saying something.

yes i understand the difference i already have a 5000psi Landa cold water pressure washer which i have sold if i decide to go with a hotwater pressure washer or i will keep if i decide on a jenny. i like buying used construction equipment, backhoes and things like that and hotwater or steam cleans this type of equipment a lot better

That kind of equipment is what we used the steam Jenny on. It worked quite a bit better than our hot water pressure washer.

I could slice wires and such superbly with either. The steam cleaner was better at ripping the case off of hoses. I think it may have had to do with the heat softening the rubber. Many a radiator or hydraulic hose was promptly down to exposed cords with the steam cleaner.
