when the HLAs start making noise on the Miata with a full synthetic and every 3k-ish with dino in the truck
3-4K on the '06 RAV4 (V6) Mobil 1 5W-20 (synthetic) 3-4K on the '05 Honda Odyssey Mobil 1 5W-20 (synthetic) 3K on the '94 Chevy K1500 Various 5W-30 (conventional)
3-6 k on the Escort..I've got 5w20 Valvoline Durablend in right now and have used 10w30 Rotella and 5w30 Valvoline before.
Every 5k with Mobil 1 or other synthetic plus WIX or Napa gold oil filter for the Miatas. GTO has the oil life system so it will be interesting to see how far it goes on Mobil 1 and WIX. MS6 also has Mobil 1 but not so comfortable with the oil cannister system so mileage is doubtful. I will probably change at 5k just to feel safe. I used to use the used oil from the race cars(changing filter every weekend and oil every other weekend) in the tow vehicle for 5k. Never had an engine fail as result of oiling issues.
Annually in mid-late summer on both cars, which works out to around 8-9k on the Bimmer and 5-6k on the Miata. I use a BMW LL-01 approved synthetic in the BMW (have used Lubro-Moly, German Castrol 0w-30, and Mobil-1 0w-40 depending on local availability. It seemed to like the Castrol best but it is hard to find). The Miata gets whatever synthetic has been on a blowout sale recently (just bought 4 quarts of Napa Synthetic @ 2.99/qt that will go in it sometime this summer).
Every five or six months on my Scooby, which works out to around 3-4k miles, with Mobil 1 5W-30. Manual say 6500 miles or six months, so I think I'm ok.
Every 10 to 15k for the pizza delivery escort, whether it needs it or not. Yearly for the miatas. Guys give me a hard time, but my cars don't seem to mind.
Joey
Psh, i just add... (bout a quart a month, maybe more)
I do a proper change when the filter is mile'd out.
Every 5000. It's shorter than any factory interval, and it's easy to keep track of (10k, 15, 20k, etc.). Here's what I use:
2008 Taurus X: Motorcraft 5w20 semi-synthetic, Motorcraft filter
2005 330i: Haven't done it yet, will probably use Mobil 1 5w30 and an OEM filter
2000 F-150: Whatever dino oil is on sale, Motorcraft filter
Every 3000 on the Type R with Castrol GTX High Mileage (more zinc)
Every 5000 on the IS 300 with regular GTX (could probably do 7500, but had trouble making the mental leap to 5000 even though it still comes out fairly clear after 5000).
7K with Syntec and the 7k spec Fram on the neon and my mother's taurus. The fiance's Civic gets castrol high-milage and fram Tough Guard every 3k, or as soon after 3k that she remembers
But with my oil leak on the neon, aprox 1qt. every 700-800 miles i keep it topped off with gas stastion synth-blend.
Every 3500-4000 miles with Bosch filters and good brand mineral oil (Castrol, Pennzoil, etc) on the daily driven stuff. I used to go Castrol on everything, now if the API matches I'm happy.
The Jensen Healey (K&N oil filter) and the Abomination (Bosch oil filter) both get annual oil changes with only Castrol GTX 20w50 because of the ZDDP additive thing.
Every 5K with Mobil 1 on the 99 GMC Z71, 2000 Sunfire, and 2000 Impala 9C1. They have 205K, 105K and 73K respectively.
I switched the 78 Camaro to Rotella T from Mobil 1 for the zinc/phosphorous after losing 2 sets of lifters and 1 cam a few years back.
I did try Royal Purple in my truck. I did not notice a little better mpg-but man it's getting expensive.
Anyone know if Royal Purple has zinc/phosphorous additive package? Their are additives now, but about 10-15 bucks a bottle.
I'm thinking about going 10K instead of 5K with running a good long mileage filter-Mobil 1 or K&N
Every 5k for all cars using M1. Three 3.3L Dodge caravans, one 2L golf and a 2.5L Forrester receiving this care.
'90 Miata w/102k miles: every 3k miles w/ regular Valvoline dino oil + new filter.
'91 BMW 318is w/~145k miles: about every 6-9 months (est. 5-6k miles) with Mobil 1 Synthetic + new filter.
I try to change the oil more frequently during pollen season.

According to a couple of the Web sites out there, Bosch as a DD type filter and K&N's for race apps.

The second site lists the Bosch as being made overseas, it appears that has changed. I do know this: the Bosch filter is a good bit heavier than other brands I have used. maybe that's not a true test of a filter, but it tells me there are probably much better materials inside.
the intended interval is 3k on both the '96 Probe GT and the '03 Odyssey. intended, i said. in practice, it's about every 4k on the PGT and about every 8k on the Ody. so far, neither one seem to care. PGT has 208k and Ody is at 150k.
