honestly, its not the fugliest thing Ive ever seen and looks like its dying for some 4 banger+5spd transaxle anyway, so more fun for girls and boys with welders and protractors...

Since I know nothing about these cars and have absolutely no appreciation for there heritage etc.
I really don't mind it.
I guess this is proof that I have not taste.

How about 55 pounds per horsepower? That's pretty wrong.

nah. that 2 cylinder deal is just a packaging spacer to keep the frame safe from sustaining damage in transit to my garage - kinda like how new shoes have that crumpled up paper down in the toe when you buy em. Nissan sent over the SR20DE meant to go into that thing inside my Inifiniti a decade ago
I've always been fascinated by some of these designers and artists ability to come close to a beautiful form, while still managing to miss it by a mile.

But it will still be ugly.

Really. If you're going to go that far, why not go all the way?
Agreed, my first thought was golf cart with bugeye headlights tacked on.
With all the craze over Cobra replica kits over the years I always would have liked a kit that mimicked a bugeye. Minimalist tube frame with fiberglass panels and Miata running gear.
Looks slightly ridiculous, but I bet it's still fun to drive, underpowered or not.
Actually, it'd look a whole lot better if the windscreen just wasn't so vertical.

ugly and fast are not mutually exclusive
Otto_Maddox wrote: It is quite hideous. It looks like a golf cart with a cheap body kit.
If you look at it that way its not so bad. Otherwise it is just hideous.
In reply to 4cylndrfury:
Yeah, but why have fast and ugly if you can just as easily have fast and pretty?
I was tempted to say: remove windscreen + 'busa motor (or whatever) = hoonage
However I keep looking at the misguided proportions and all I can think of is Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. I might be able to handle the cartoonish squished front-end, if it weren't for the incredibly tall fenders. Way waaaay too tall for those small wheel wells.

That was my exact thought.
As the owner of a blue, '59 Bugeye, I've gotta say wow! What a fantastic way to screw up a good idea!
That doesn't have a single thing going for it. Not one. The original bugeye got 50mpg with the 948, so its not fuel efficiency. The original had more horsepower and torque. And the original, while ugly (I love them myself but...) has nothing, and I mean nothing, on that .... thing.
Okay, girly moment, here...
IT'S SOOOOO CUUUUUTE! Want!!
Although, seriously, I think it makes the Miata look manly. :D
