Getting the honda packed up for the drive starting tomorrow From New York. My luggage includes rainx, gas and a head gasket.

Car is not afraid of bad conditions. Should be interesting.

Hope everyone on the Florida panhandle stays safe, and all those travelling through to the Challenge. Michael is a category 4 storm now, and that's pretty fierce.

The Hurricane is now directly between Pete and I and the Challenge. Hoping that things go as well as they can for the panhandle. On that note, anyone in that part of Florida that needs anything, let me know, we're on our way.

Stay safe on your drive. We are beginning our track down Interstate 95. Hoping to get past it before it went through the Carolinas

They're now saying that middle and south georgia (I-75)  will be bad overnight tonight but the worst will be gone by 7 or 8 AM Thursday morning. Looks like towing through Thursday afternoon won't be too bad as long as infrastructure doesn't get damaged. With definite TS strength winds and a good possibility of hurrican gusts there wil be a LOT of trees down and power out, but the interstate should be okay.

Matter of fact, if anybody gets near I85, I65, or 231 south where they intersect in Montgomery Al on their way to Gville and needs something I have access to shops and tools or a dry couch and a cold beer

Thanks but I think we'll actually be okay. We're in Warner Robins, which is an Air Force town and has fairly new infrastructure. We seldom lose power for long. No big trees near the house. Got all the radios and phones charged up, gassed up the Jeep, dug some drainage paths around my detached shop which tends to flood. We're shutting down the plant at 2 today and coming in at 11AM tomorrow.

We got weather almost this rough with Irma last year and we never even lost power. But there were a lot of people in Macon and other surrounding areas with older infrastructure that went without for several days.

Having said that I'll probably be up and down all night. I'm a light sleeper anyway.

I remember spring break in '06 the wife and I made a swing across the panhandle and remember what Panama Beach looked like after Irma(?) hit it in '04. There was so much stuff still busted. I can't imagine sitting through one of those.

I'm staying home from the Challenge this year (drinking wine and car is busted).  But it looks like my Suburban will be there, anyone who's interested in a QS rig should look it over and shoot me an offer.

I have a self storage property and house next door near I85 between Greenville and Atlanta if anyone needs a place to hole up. Sevenzero6 7nine5 02seven2

This will also apply towards other track venues in the future. Plenty of room to work on a car, too.

To reiterate, keep my place in mind, folks. It's located better for Atlanta/Birmingham/VIR tracks but if anyone needs a place to stop along I85 and recharge on their way home, let me know. Bathroom, kitchen, spare bedroom (no bed yet but it's a clean floor), secure gate/fence for trailer and car, wrenching, yada, yada.

And the first tornado on the ground about 20 miles from the house.
