I received a number of large brown boxes from Flyin Miata this week. I am just dying to get to work installing the goodies...
I have an Autocross on Sunday, hopefully I can get everything installed in time to surprise the competition

You all suck I don't even have any beer to drink in the house, and the hard stuff is being saved for a convention I'm going to next week.
I was thinking of using FM gift cards as a savings account. Interest cat be any worse than what the bank offers.

And by smiley face you mean said parts falling off of the car because in a drunken stupor you decided "bolts are for sissies?"
Getting packages is one of my favorite things. Someone should write a song about it.

Be funny to see that done by a group ala "Whose line is it Anyway?" Probably be pretty funny.
While I do have to work this weekend.. I am almost getting to the point where I can start reassembling my saab. Still need to get the transmission rebuilt.. but I am getting everything else fixed that needs doing.
Sadly, thanks to a screw up at work.. rather than getting a refund this year (that was going to pay for the transmission) I owe Uncle Sam about $600. My fault for not catching it
soo... I started work installing the FM Stage 1.5 kit. and immediately hit a snag.
So that explains the clunking noise I heard last time I drove it. I was hoping to compete Sunday but it looks like I have a front sway bar mount to repair.
Also it appears that the instructions were left out of my kit, so I guess I will call FM Monday morning. I kinda thought I could muddle my way through with out them but there are a couple of bushings and inserts I am unsure of. Also the threaded portion of the shocks appear to be too large to fit through the front top hats.
Shouldn't be too bad. I have already ordered some replacement sway bar mounts from FM. I will have to cold chisel or drill out the spot welds that hold on the remaining bits of the old mounts. It looks like I may have to remove the radiator to access the surface of the inner mount.

Well anyone can do it THAT way!
Thanks for the help on the phone this morning keith!
I didn't see anything on the website that would have answered my questions about the front spacers, (although Its entirely possible I was being blind).
Now that you have explained it the mounting location of the spacers seems obvious, and I am sure I could have figured it out by mucking around with it a bit, but since I have been feeling like my little project is starting to "snowball", I didn't really want to forge ahead without confirming I was on the right track. (I have a history of forging ahead on an assumption only to make things worse)
Believe it or not, this whole thing started as an attempt to improve the cosmetics of the car(I ordered the chin and trunklid spoilers as well). The "while I am at it" mentality has expanded the scope of things considerably.
Still at least I can look forward to another visit from the "brown santa" this week.

And this is very different from the "brown Satan" which tends to visit after a trip to the wrong taco truck.
After you have a few beers the fact that you said "mounting location" should give you some giggles. Unfortunately after work, I have to work.
I got home pretty late from work last night, but I was anxious to get the car going. So I went out in the dark and cold and got the front shocks installed, then I retreated to the house and got the rears assembled and ready to go in.
Hopefully tonight I will put them in the rear. (intentional NSperlo Baiting)
alright I have the flying Miata stage 1.5 kit installed. UPS is supposed to show up today with my sway bar mounts, and after that I should be all set.
I took it for a test drive last night, all I have to say is holy E36 M3 this is going to be awesome. Even without an alignment, or any sway bars I noticed a vast improvement over stock. I am really looking forward to experiencing this thing with the full sway bar treatment too!
Once again I can't wait to get home from work...
