What does a Formula 1 champion compere with at Goodwood? For the 2009 champ, Jenson Button, it was this 1962 Jaguar E-type at the 2021 Goodwood Revival.
Much of this car’s early history is a bit of a mystery. It was originally delivered to Singapore and the story picks up when it was registered in the U.K. in 2000. In 2017, it was transformed into an FIA Appendix K (i.e. period-correct) race car.
The Jaguar made its competition debut at the 2020 Castle Combe Autumn Classic Norman Dewis Trophy, where it won with Alex Buncombe, a two-time Historic Grand Prix of Monaco winner.
Find this 1962 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8-Litre Fixed Head Coupé Competition for auction at RM Sotheby’s, with an estimate value of £170,000-£200,000 (approximately $225,000-$265,000 USD).
