I was behind a GT86 this morning.  It had an aftermarket, I presume, LED triangular light low on the rear bumper which was an auxiliary brake light.  Which would have been fine, but it was constantly bright, and then flashed when the regular brake lights came on.  It is pointed directly at the following drivers eyes, and was so bright I had to look off to the side, or above the car, to avoid having a spot burned into my night vision.

So, Yes, I saw your car.  However, I couldn't actually keep my eyes on your car or what was going on directly in front of you, so in an emergency, I'm probably more likely to hit you.

I guess people are no longer happy with just blinding approaching traffic with douchebag lights, now we need them on the rear as well.

Cheap high-output LEDs:  with great power comes great responsibility...

I would not go that far. I do have a pair of bright LED trailer lights beneath the bumper of my Disco, but I only did that because my tail/brake lights are higher than most people look

Toyobarus come with a triangular low-mounted auxiliary brake light, but it sounds like this guy put a brighter bulb/LED and a flasher on it.

I don't think that low mounted light does anything on my FRS. Just a reflector.

I saw a na miata the other evening With a led light bar mounted on the bottom driving around with it on and blinding so the crap out of everyone that was oncoming to them.   It wasn't even all the way dark yet and are people stupid enough to think those are for driv8ng around in town?

that light, in Europe and probably a few other areas, is for the rear mounted fog light.

I've been thinking about adding a brighter tail light and maybe even projectors for tail lights. They would definitely have a height cutoff that would sit right at tailgater eye level and maybe a mechanical switch for a much higher area range for the bro dozers devil

The strobe thing is on ambulances around here (even when not in a hurry). That might make a good addition to my someday taillights too

I regularly have a Land Rover behind me on my way to work with a set of those light bars blazing. One day when I'm rich I'm paying hobos to fill his snorkel with piss.

The addition of the OEM fog light in that spot isn't terrible, but I've seen the flashing LED conversion there and it's berkeleying annoyingly bright!

+ infinity.

A related story- I'm not sure if any of you have ever driven in Puerto Rico- but for some reason, cops have their lights on all of the time.  Makes no sense, but they do.  When it was a rotating normal light, no big deal.  Now that it's an ultra bright flashing LED, it's a HUGE deal.  Especially in fog.

I was driving over a mountain pass at night in fog, trying to pass a cop (who was really driving slowly) who had his strobe ultra bright LED going off.  That effect blinds people from a LONG way away.  It's no wonder they were driving slow, as the bright blue strobe messed with their eyes looking into the thick fog.  VERY, VERY hard to deal with.

A bright light that is constant, and directional for fog is ok.  A ultra bright, all direction, flashing light is a horrible idea, and is very dangerous to you and everyone else.  Yes, they can see you, which is good.  But nothing else, which is worse.

As mentioned, just a reflector, but plenty of aftermarket companies make a light setup for it.

I'm never a fan of splicing into the stock wiring for something like this.

Yes.  Apparently it's cool to put led bars on anything and everything where I live.  It used to be just trucks and Jeeps but the fad has trickled down to the kids who don't have trucks or Jeeps.

You might be surprised at how affordable hobo labor is on the everyman's budget...they may even be willing to work pro bono if you provide work materials, in the form of bottles of Thunderbird devil
