Porsche 911 engine in the back seat of a VW Bub. In a stock Bug and a 911 format, the transaxle-transmission is ahead of the engine. To make the engine in front of the trans axle do the job properly, does it have to run backward? By just flipping it, wouldn't you get one gear forward and five backward?

As I recall you can flip the ring gear and get the reverses moved to the forwards and vice versa.

I have flipped the ring gear in VW boxes in the past (like Formula Vee.) But the Outlaw Bug has a Porsche 5 speed out of a 914.
