Somehow I own 5 cars. Well, 6 now because I bought a parts car that I have to go get soon. Well, but I kinda gave one to my mom. But her old car is still sitting in the driveway.
Anyway, trying to do handbrake skids in a FWD car on a wet skidpad made me think about how I really like RWD. So, I think I need to reconfigure my driveway again, but I have no idea how, and no money to spend. I'm confounded.
A quick overview:
1. 1991 Mercury Cougar XR7 - the "forever" car. Even if it rusts away to nothing, I'll save the badges and put them on a tubeframe racecar and call it the same car. Like Grandpa's axe. Not going anywhere, but also not currently running. I think I want to put a 5-speed in it and autocross it. Maybe it could be daily and autocross combined but I'd rather add a Thunderbird for daily use.
2. 2005 Ford Focus ST - the daily driver. I like it, but it's dented or scratched on every body panel. I think the exhaust has a hole in it, the motor mounts are suspect, and the clutch might be starting to go. I'd sell it but I don't think it's worth anything.
3. 1997 Ford Probe GT - this was my 2019 challenge car. I love the platform, I love the engine, but the suspension is really stiff and not good for daily use. I could autocross it but again I'm leaning towards RWD for that. Probably only worth anything to a Probe fanatic.
4. 1998 Lincoln Town Car - this is basically my mom's car now. Can't sell it. Can't build it into a RWD drift couch. Wish I could get a second one to do that stuff with.
5. 1992 Ford Escort LX-E - "rare" sedan version of the GT (Mazda BP motor) that I'm trying to save. Also my next challenge car. Bought rusty parts car to manual swap it and for body panels.
So, I really want another Panther or MN12, and I also could really use a truck to tow all these hoopties with, but I have no room to add stuff, and only a basic willingness to subtract stuff. Quite the dilemma.
Anyone wanna take a Probe and a Focus as trade for their 90s Ford truck? (the answer is no, I suspect)
