i was at work tonight doing pizza delrivry and was making a left turn into work and looked up in the rear veiw mirror nd said "OH F@@K!" and got rear ended by a chevy aveo that got stuck on my trialer hitch and bumper of my s-10 and a couple of mintues later thier was a different rear end job about 5 cars back.... i went to try moving my truck as the cop asked and dragged the car about 5 feet before giving up. we put the other car in netural and i puled it off the road into a parking lot to get off the road. i was laughing about the event with the cops cause there was nothing else i could do at the time....the problem was i was to close for work..they could see just why i was not able to do anything else tonight... my truck i was able to drive the 2miles home and i am going to the doc in the morning to get looked at cause i am still running off the high right from the event. i will post pics tommor when i can get good light but the truck is toast with the frame bent, the rear brake lines got cut somehow, the rear sliding window broke the seal on one side byt the driver door, the bed is twisted and you and can even see the cab bent also....and i just dumped $1200 into it last month for breaks and a tuneup..sigh....more details later.

That sucks. Definitely get checked out by your doc and file with your insurance tomorrow. You can also argue on value of the truck given all the work you've put into it recently.

That stinks - wonder if they were texting. Seems like people are on the phone non-stop (pun intended) around here.. Get checked out and file a claim. Be willing to fight a bit with insurances, just make sure they make you whole...

sucks about the truck... is it normal that my mind immediately went to Bruton Auto Stalker V6 as soon as I read "S10"? unless you need the truck to be a truck for work...

I bet you're gonna be hurtin' later, you should have gone to the ER tonight to get checked out. Document everything, don't discount the least little pain. You may have an unseen injury, especially neck that may come back to haunt you later, even years later. I'm not advocating to the old ambulance chaser whiplash case just cover your ass, get checked out thoroughly. Now is not the time to play nice guy.

Hope you had high back seats. I got rear ended in a truck with only a bench. Whacking the back window with ones head really hurts.....

Check you account settings Cko's, I've tried to PM you but it just comes back as a bad e-mail address. I've got some stuff you might be interested in.

Yea, I had a similar situation in my Ranger seven years back. Unfortunately, I didn't get to wait to go to the hospital. On the bright side, the insurance company gave me $4350.00 more than I paid for it. A 40 mph collision to the rear and she was still able to drive away.

Hopefully its just whiplash. Feel better.

i am fin today, just a little bit stiff, but the doc did not have any isssues that he could find. and yes i am going to fight this big time since i was the told the guy was not given a ticket today..sigh... thanks for the comments and here is all the pics i got today in the next couple of posts after this one. the damage after looking at the truck is he poped the light switch out of the dash, bent the frame, poped the window out of the cab on one courner, trashed the hitch also along with the cab and bed damage and brake lines where trashed since i had to be very careful last night on the way home since i had to pump the brakes to get them to work...sigh

That'll buff out. (Someone had to say it!) I've seen trucks worse than that driving around daily in MI.

Sorry about your luck. Glad you're OK!

one thing... be careful about the mentioning the whole "pizza delivery" thing... that could lead to some issues if you where using the car for work...

somehow I forgot your s10 was the pre-runner style one posted up not long back... outside of the bent frame looks pretty easily salvageable from JY bits + you coming away with a nice insurance check...

also white is easy to paint :)... so we do have some good sides

oh for the frame... seems to me as long as it's only bent right behind the wheel you could bag the rear end... the notch would take care of the frame issues lol...

Try taking off the box. You'll get a better view of everything and could get creative with ways to straighten and brace the frame.

My Ranger fared worse than that after I side swiped a phone pole in an ice storm. I drove it for another two years that way. My brother in law uses it when he is in town. 250k + on the clock and still running strong. I say cram the rear window back in and drive the hell out of it. Um, you dont have safety inspections in your state do you?

Glad you are OK, keep track of your medical any way, it may come back to haunt you later. I initially felt OK after being rear ended five years ago. Had a couple a few days of pain but 800 mg Ibuprofin helped. Within months I needed regular chiro adjustments that only lasted a few days. A year later MD and X-Rays said I had three damaged discs and arthritis in my neck. I have diminished movement and feels like gravel in my neck... ca-lunk, ca-lunk, sometimes wakes me up at night it can be that bad.

This incident fell completely through the cracks... PD, hospital, docs, insurance co. all laid down. I blame myself too for carrying limited tort insurance cause it was cheaper, no lawyer would take the case because I didn't have enough medical bills worth their while.

My neck is bad enough now that I'm even hesitant to ride a MC or drive in competition again for fear that an accident could really berkeley my neck up permanent. It's gotten progressively worse, I'm 53 now and hurtin' every day, my neck and shoulders are on fire just sitting here typing now. I hate to think of it ten years from now.

So if you even have the slightest pain document it, file a claim, stick it to them... don't let it fall through the cracks like it happened to me.

DO IT

happy you're not badly injured and hope everything works out for you.

though if I was the other driver I would fight a ticket by saying that those pepboys tail-light cover things you have on the truck "obscured the brake lights" or similar.

I'm pretty certain those light covers are illegal in this state (and probably everywhere else)....as is anything that reduces or obstructs full DOT light output from any lights on the car.

I only say that because I had a friend get off a rear-ending ticket by noting that the guy he hit had tinted his tail-lights, so they didn't illuminate as bright as they should.

he could also claim that the damage was inflicted because your truck is lifted above the legal bumper height. Check your state DOT laws - in Va. your bumper beam must be "no higher than" or "no lower than" a certain height measured from the ground. I know my old XJ with a 2" lift and 31s had an "illegal bumper height".....and it looked to be similar height to yours.

Not saying any of that because I care about people modding their cars (I most certainly have things that are of questionable legality on some of my cars). Just saying that some of those things may affect the other driver's liability, in theory.
