When it was first announced that Austin was going to host F1, I declared on this board that it would never happen.
Looks like I will be dining on crow in the near future based on this video of Mr Coultard hooning around on dirt roads in a F1 car.
They should leave the track unpaved and actually make the racing intersting.

I wonder how many times he got stuck. They could have at least given him some tires with a little traction.

I said the same thing. I'm not getting out my knife and fork until the lights go on and off for the first race. They've got a year to finish the track, the buildings, etc. And the last I heard they were getting a lot of grief about access to the track on the public roads. Remember when the British Grand Prix moved from Silverstone to Donnington? Yeah, that's because it didn't, despite Ecclestone's insistence that it was a done deal.

How are the spectators going to see the race with so much of it taking place below ground level?
By the time they put down all the base materials and pave it, it will be quite a bit higher. I would expect that it will then be level with the surrounding area.

I bet there are some good old boys around Austin that'd lend him some better dirt track tires ...
I have a better idea. Can we just leave the track the way it is, and have wheel to wheel rally racing? On a REAL track? Not these BS street courses at the X-Games?

if they are trying to trick me into liking F1, then they are doing a good job.. but i'll only like it if they leave at least half of the track just as it is now..

I wish my impreza was done.
And I wish it was waiting for me at that track with a tank full of gas.
